Ahri's shift from Essence Theft to Vastayan Grace
[sg-ahri-1] Ahri's new passive feels very clunky and ultimately, worse in comparison to her old passive (Essence Theft), prior to Vastayan Grace's implementation. If the whole point of giving Ahri a movement speed boost on Q was to compensate for the initial removal of charm's 20X damage increase, why reinstate the amplifier and still incorporate the burst of movement speed? I think could be better "adjusted" by reverting Ahri's new passive to her old one and still keeping the burst of move speed ON CAST for orb of deception. Also, Ahri does not need the 20X increase. If Ahri is consistently landing Q while maintaining a safe distance, she doesn't need anything more than the total damage and crowd control effect associated with charm on her target.
If riot scaled Ahri's bonus movement speed on Q with her total AP ratio, opponents would be able to capitalize on Ahri's pre-six (early game) lack of mobility and skilled Ahri players would still be able to use Q to avoid ganks and harass enemies while dodging everything in the mid-game. Through the scaling (I'm not a math person so this is purely theoretical) Riot could tweek her Q movement speed burst to only provide significant benefit at a value of 100 AP or greater providing opportunity for opponents to shut her down and allowing true StAhri's to shine above all others through skillful play.
I realize that this new shift in her passive is meant to promote ideal positioning and reduce the exploitation of q's bonus movespeed, but the current state of Vastayan Grace feels unresponsive and if the player already has great positioning, the movement speed granted from Vastan Grace doesn't feel rewarding at all. It should also be noted that the channeling time of Orb of Deception interrupts the fluidity of Ahri's graceful playstyle, making meaningful pokes and simultaneous evasion of harass feel restricted, clunky, and too risky. While I do agree that if ahri misses her spells, she should be punished for it, the current level of punishment does not feel appropriate to the misplay due to Ahri's very low base movement speed. By reverting her passive to Essence theft, restoring the bonus movespeed ON CAST for Orb of Deception, establishing a link between Ahri's total Ap and her BONUS MS on Q, and removing the 20X amplifier on charm, I think Ahri will be able to retain her flighty and crafty playstyle without becoming impossible to catch.
