Community response to Garen reworks in a nutshell:

HayRoss··9 votes·756 views

Perseverance: Community response - "It's a built in Warmogs!"

The exact same passive he had before

Decisive Strike: Community response - "The silence is too long and he goes too fast"

Both the speed and the silence were nerfed significantly during the rework

Courage: Community response - "He takes no damage!"

He took even less damage before, plus he had a bonus %35 tenacity with it, and %20 to all bonus armor and magic resist on your bonus armor/magic resist

Judgement: Community response - "Actually, we're pretty down with this ability"

It was virtually unchanged, save the fact that you spin faster as you level up

Demacian Justice: Community response - "Villainy does too much damage and %HP true damage is dumb!"

The purpose of Garen's rework was to give him the unique role as an "Anti-Carry", and to Garen not care if you're a 984/0/42 Vayne/Jinx/Any ADC at full build, he WILL kill you, which at max, He'll deal an aditional %10 max HP true damage, which for a carry, (Assuming that you're actually pretty tanky for an ADC, so we'll say, what, 3000 HP?) will deal a bonus... 300 true damage, that's a sizable chunk, but not totally devastating.

My point is, that every argument for Garen being OP is less of a problem now than it was before the rework. According to your arguments, Pre-rework Garen was like pre rework Kassidin. The reality is the exact opposite, Garen was a laughable pick for noobs to learn the game that would never see top tier play (And even still, Garen doesn't see top tier play)

Kinda reminds me of how people complained about runeglaive Ezreal's damage, not his waveclear/mana sustain.

Kinda reminds me of how people complained about runeglaive Ezreal's damage, not his waveclear/mana sustain.

People complained about his damage because his near perfect waveclear let him build and deal much more damage much more quickly than Ezreal pre-runeglaive. So it buffed his mana and waveclear and indirectly buffed his damage by doing so.

I honestly just think the juggernaut Items are extremely powerful and I'm seeing a lot of Garens building them. We've seen how strong the Juggernauts are and know they need toned back across the board (garen is the closest to balance imo and this is very minor changes) and the items need some balance more than most of the juggernauts.

Actually, I did make a thread stating that most of the juggernauts were fine in states of balance, but a lot of the new juggernaut items synergized too well with them. In particular, I pointed out how item 3742 gave as much movement at full stacks as item 3009, and you can still get a pair of boots! Slap alacrity on your boots and there's this butcher/scorpion/beyblade/heap of tin running at you faster than Master Yi when he ults!

When you see these items build in excess on these champs and the fact that they are really strong almost shows that the items are at more fault than the champs themselves. I still feel there are certain aspects of the reworks that need toned down (Darius %HP heal), but overall I think its just them having to many tools in the items they build.

item 3742 gives them much more MS to get in the fight and hit a primary target. This mainly rings true to me when you talk about adc. They already aren't very mobile, but when you add that extra MS it makes the limited mobility of some and makes it worse. I'd almost like to see the MS drop from slows. SO if you get hit by a 20% slow then you should lose 20 stacks, but have the MS scale with the number of stacks.

item 3053 Overall I like this item at its core, but lets be honest giving a tank a huge shield and increasing base AD is rather large in terms of big tanks. I'd be fine with taking the AD increase off and giving it some other stats. Maybe make this the Crit reduction item over item 3143.

item 3748 Is actually one of the items I havne't seen or used much so there is little for me to critic on here. In Theory it should be a very strong item with high Health items. I mean I want to see a DrMundo get it and just start to destroy people.

Just kind of how these items impressions are with me and doesn't make them right.

Garen main galore here.

It isn't Garen that's the problem it's the new items that amplify the hell out of him.

I like what they are doing currently on the PBE and making killing him not give Villainy. It makes him more of an Anti-Carry since the enemy carry will have to start killing people other than him to be a true carry. It also makes killing him in lane less punishing. There is probably some other around the bush changes that could be done to tone him down and more fair to play against in general, but I agree, people are complaining about unchanged or even nerfed aspects of him, not to mention they wanted him buffed on the PBE.

I think the Garen is pretty balanced now and I absolutely hated the old Garen.

He didn't die, you couldn't kite him, and he did fairly high damage for having insane tank stats on his kit like 20% extra AR/MR or a ton of free Tenacity. If he couldn't all in you, he would just beat you down with his Silence and immediately regen any damage you threw at him under turret. If he got a kill, your lane didn't exist. If you tried to gank him, he would simply run away. He wasn't the best in teamfighting but he was so tanky with his free AR/MR and Tenacity that it didn't matter.

I've been saying what the OP has been saying for a while. If people think the current Garen is overpowered, they should of paid more attention to the previous Garen, but people will swear to god that the old Garen was balanced because he didn't have true damage. Because true damage regardless of who has it, makes a champion overpowered apparently. Even if It's highly situational.

That's why I mained the old Garen. Walk directly into the enemy team alone, spin a bunch, and somehow, by some miracle, get out of there

While i agree that most of the complaints are pretty absurd and atleast for me, garren was stronger befor the rework(same with darius), there seriously is a problem with the villian mechanic. It's totally unfun to play against, and i don't really find it appealing when playing garren myself either. It's a mechanic that basically punishes people for doing well, and thats horrible. Further, it prettymuch only punishes melees for doing well, as Garens tools to ever reach ranged enemies have been butchered, there is no way he even tuches a well played vayne unless she's cought by chain-CC, which should cause her death anyway. But as a melee, you can't really avoid him, and the truedamage, especially the truedamage ult, do hurt alot on a champ like renekton.
