Dear Riot

I get that you want the proper threads in their proper place, but let's take this analogy for an example: Let's say that you have to place the proper shapes in the proper bins: http://s11.postimg.org/kgn1hfh5v/Bins_1.png

Now, somebody decides to put a triangle in the square bin: http://s2.postimg.org/ao6qz9rux/Bins_2.png

No big deal, what should be done is that you pick up the triangle, and you simply place it in the triangle bin: http://s13.postimg.org/r1tlp22rb/Bins_3.png

But instead, you do this: http://s12.postimg.org/3kgnh3a0d/Bins_4.png

Please stop deleting threads and just simply move them instead. Why do you do this? I am asking you, Riot Games, right now, why do you do this?

It's the job of the board mod to move, delete or lock a thread, though I feel the printer at Riot HQ only printed out "Delete" when given people job orders.

They put it in the trash so the person who put it in the wrong bin learns to put it where it goes.

If they just moved it for you, you'd never get it and just be like "oh, they'll move it for me if I'm mistaken," whereas what they do makes you really think about where it should go.

IIRC, I think there's some technical reason they can't/don't move it. Which is weird because every other forum on the planet can do it.

Nahui1/22/2016, 5:29:05 PM10 votes

I assume it's for two reasons. Perhaps this template doesn't allow for easily moving across different bins. However, the main reason is to promote responsibility. If they simply moved misplaced threads, people would become careless and just post everywhere knowing it would be moved by someone else.

Because the mods love abusing power: evidence? I got permabanned from the forums for an Image that contained the word "n-word" (In a positive context) ONE person reported me and a mod perm banned me,

I went into support tickets and basically said "How come I can't post this if others can post this?" And added the "aww shit n-word" meme and I Got unbanned :^)

They've been asked this before and their reply was that for some reason there is no option available for mods to move threads. Why isn't there, and why hasn't that been fixed?? good question, I guess they don't see it as a big enough problem to devote development time towards.

Verxint1/22/2016, 11:11:11 PM3 votes

It's kind of sad, but their move thread function is literally broken and doesn't work.

Billion dollar company.

Alternatively, consider the case where there are hundreds of shapes being dropped into the wrong boxes. And these boxes are all some distance away from each other.

You save a lot more time just throwing the shapes out. You need fewer people on box clean-up duty. Also, while you are moving one shape, others are growing. If you move a big shape that is in the wrong box, people could get upset.

Do we want to waste forum moderators' time because boards users go "eh fuck it, they'll just move my thread so I'll post my unrelated shit on community creations because it's the closest option to my cursor anyways"?

No, we need to tell people to simply post in the correct boards instead of just letting them waste people's time with no fucks given.

Bloodhawk951/23/2016, 6:45:06 PM2 votes

I can't tell you how many times ive had my posts deleted by riot because i put it in the wrong area. It takes the same time (i assume) to put a post in the correct area versus just deleting it

Reds have actually said the Board is broken and they don't have the tech to move threads, but you're a tool so whatever. And when threads are deleted they send you a message anyway, of course you'd also get the same kind of message if a thread was moved.

I hope someone reading this can translate it from spanish (I'm tired now, and also my english is medium/not enough good): I have some answers about it, as I quoted this great explanation in my local forum, and conclusion is: the tool exists, but when boards were created Riot decision was never again use it. So at that point the tool was disabled.

Not an answer from Riot NA, but an answer from Riot anyway. If you are not good in spanish, i hope google translator can help you enough:

Riot thinks is better never moving threats. Of course i don't agree. Sometimes deleting is not a good solution. Riot is not agreed..

The mods on these boards are some of the worst I've seen to be honest (just sayin mods, you are). I mean I saw better mods on the old MSN groups back in the day. Just the other day I had a post deleted because I quoted someone that said "butt head", not asshole.

They just seem to auto delete most posts that are reported, which makes me nervous if more people find out and just abuse that when someone disagrees with them (I've seen posts deleted that I didn't think had anything bad in them, so not the first time).

They are also a tooooouuuuch lazy. They can move the threads, I've seen red posts comment on that before, but they just choose not to. I imagine the mods get paid likely nothing to do this, so they don't care much. If they get paid to do this, then where do I apply for this job?

This is why the forum is still called beta.

Great post. I get really tired explaining to the emmisaries in the EUW-Spanish forum they must ask riot to create the tools for moving threads between sections. I hope finally Riot listen the feedback and create/activate the tools to solve it.

These "Boards" are not a Forum if moderators can not do so simple task as moving threads or merging it.
