Game 1: Nobody feeds, I go 7/3/8, our Jg and top do well and we roam across the map and take it over.

Game 2: I win lane vs Anivia HARD, end the game 24/2, literally running down their entire team, bot fed but it didn't matter I was too strong. Got multiple tower dive triples and just walked it into the nexus.

And then, the "skill wall" kicks in, to test my skill on my champion, I gotta PROVE that I deserve to be gold!!!

Game 3: Smiteless Soraka jungle bans my champ, and the entire team runs it down and opens mid. Enemy Ryze gets a Penta at lv 2. "But my team?" Nah not their fault, all my fault, I forced my teammate to pick Soraka jungle, forced them to take teleport instead of smite, forced them to ban Kat, I forced the whole team to run it down and open. Totally completely 100% my fault, I deserved to lose this game because I am just such a terrible player.

Game 4: Bot lane is 0/10 at 10 mins vs a Vayne. Top Olaf is 0/9 at 10 mins vs a Kayle. I'm ahead, but not far enough. "But my team?" yeah I guess I'm not supposed to say that right? It's all my fault.

Game 5: Second lobby, jungler from the first lobby is on the enemy team now, bans out Kat, I win lane as Akali (who I haven't played in MONTHS) vs Pyke, bot lane is 0/8 vs Tristana / Thresh at 10 mins, top lane is getting dove non-stop, and our Udyr is 1/8 from invading in early game when I had no priority. ALL MY FAULT! I AM OBVIOUSLY NOT PULLING MY WEIGHT! I SHOULD BE PLAYING LIKE A CHALLENGER SMURF SO I CAN GET TO GOLD BECAUSE ALL GOLD PLAYERS ARE REALLY CHALLENGERS IN DISGUISE AMIRITE?

And of course there's no response to this, nobody wants to talk about this, because this is PAR for the course. You play your ASS off in your promo series but it doesn't matter because you're either gonna get lucky and have a team that hasn't suffered a severe brain injury in the past 24 hours, or you're gonna get unlucky and get trolled / griefed / inted / etc.

Boy, what a real measure of my skill as a player. I feel so accomplished for having gotten so close to gold. If only I were good enough to play everyone else's champion for them, maybe I would deserve to be promoted.

Some might say that we look at promotional games with much more severity because they mean more.

However...

I’ll admit that I got suspended for mental booming after losing a promo game because I had 2 teammates that claimed they didn’t play the role they were assigned (they also terribly fed). Then I looked at the enemy team, and they were all on their mains. Even then, I didn’t actually flame anyone on my team. It was a remark made by the enemy in post-game lobby that sent me wild. Regardless of if I was just unlucky or if the system is significantly imperfect, it certainly is angering.
