We really need to do a soft MMR reset.

I'm trying not to be dramatic here, but it really feels like skill levels are all over the place. I've seen some really TERRIBLE players in higher elo (Plat / Diamond) and I've seen some INSANE players in lower elo (Silver / Gold, and I'm not talking about smurfs, these guys have ~50% winrate and hundreds of games played).

I get it, "if you keep going and you deserve it you will climb"

Of course! But on a 5 / 6 / 7 year old account, with thousands of matches of MMR calculations taken into consideration, each new game you play has less of an impact than the last on your overall MMR. A fresh account is able to climb very rapidly if the player manages to maintain a high winrate, because it has a lower number of games, so each win represents a larger percentage of total games than on an older account with several hundred or thousand games played.

I would like to suggest that everyone keep the MMR they have at the beginning of season 10, but remove the MMR history, and only track games from that point forward to calculate MMR.

This gives everyone who has drastically improved as a player over the years a chance to climb rapidly, and those who were grandfathered into a higher elo simply based on having high MMR in earlier seasons when the game was easier because players were less experienced, well... they might find that the minimum requirements to maintain whatever rank have steepened somewhat since they first reached plat / diamond / whatever.

nah dude. nothing will help you climb except you getting better. people who have hundreds of games in an elo deserve to be there. no matter what elo it is. If you're stuck in silver for years then you deserve to be silver. soft mmr reset will land you right back in Silver after u play 100 games.

Season 10 preseason needs a hard reset on MMR. Any game I play in flex or normal has the most dog early LP abusers hovering Plat 4 that can't ever lane against high iron~ low gold players.

Ranked is decently easy at lower ranks, sometimes you get pseudo gold (bronze) players, sometimes you get actual silver/gold players. In normal/flex, all I've noticed are Season 8 silver 5/4 season 9 Platinum 4, gold and silver players that play like they've never played league in their life. Most of the Diamond 4 players I've seen in normal/flex were former season 8 Gold 5 and it shows in their gameplay. Actually feels so bad to play.

Also, you can get better, but that doesn't matter when there's 5+ deaths 5 minutes into the game with a team that has no sense of macro in the slightest.

If someone has 50% winrate in silver/gold, they belong there, especially after hundreds of games.

If they had 70% while still sitting in silver for hundreds of games, then yes, mmr is problem.

MM is fucked up bcs of early season lp gains, when 40% winrate accs still managed to get to dia and even higher, that's the reason why ladder is so fked up, hopefully new season won't get P4 hardstucks in my dia games...
