The placement system is actually rigged

So last season I ended Bronze 2 and Bronze 1, and this season I went 8/2 in placements and got Bronze 3, am I missing something or is this just complete BS, i actually lost Rank for doing better. I know its just placements, but come on, I tried really hard on these placement matches, and it was all a waste of time. My friend who was Silver 5 went 2/8 in placements and still placed higher than me, what is this!!!
