So... I played a few games on my lvl 10 smurf and I must say the toxity is higher then in SoloQ. Its already enough to write Hey I'm new can you give me a few tips? and u'll get a stfu stupid noob go and play tutorial. Now actually I played well so there was no ingame flame but imaging that as a new player ure thrown into a game of toxic smurfs is horrible. So if u ever meet a newbie pls help him and dont flame him, sadly this only happend to me once where that player took me to top with him and explained me quite alot ( explained buffs, csing, hell even powerspikes ) at this point ty man we need mor players like you.

in essence Pls be nice to newbies we all started this game once

While I certainly agree with you that toxicity in this community is a problem, I'd counter that smurfing is also just as much of a problem. When I was level 10, I was still working out how jungling worked, and I'm sure that there are lots of players below level 20 who'd agree with me when I say that smurfs make the game a lot less fun than it should be, IMO.

The issue is that Riot has a little box where you give your experience playing League. If you admit you're a smurf then it matches you against level 30s and other smurfs. But people who are mean or were banned say they're new to League and end up ruining the experience for starting players :/

This is certainly not true. I marked myself as second from the right (not sure what it was.. veteran or something) and I'm not getting matched against level 30s. I'm relatively new to league (played a couple years ago for a couple months but quit for some reason, don't remember why and can't remember the account so I started a new one) but I've played other MOBAs so that's why I chose that option.

I get matched against a lot of bots, feeders, and people in general who should still be practicing in AI games.

It gets very tiresome when some of the bots do better than some of the human players. If I was getting matched against level 30s, I imagine I would see far fewer bots/noobies who ruin the game.

I remember when I first tried out league a few years ago I didn't understand the idea of recipes. I thought the recipe it showed was a suggested build path so I would do something like buy a long sword, then when I had close to 800 gold sell the long sword and buy the vamp scepter.

I also was very confused about recipes. In fact, I was so confused I did not know about their existence until I was about level 6 or so. I just straight out waited until I had enough gold then bought the entire item.

When I found out that there were recipes, the concept was so foreign I didn't even know what to make of it until a friend explained it to me.

Ah, those were the days. The days when the jungle seemed so big and vast ... whose existence I did not know of until about level 4 or 5 : p

Same happens in my country, and I think it happens in every server. I've played some Coop vs AI, only to raise this account level and I saw toxic behavior in some matches. Most of the time it was rage and trash talk against new players trying to lane "where they not supposed to" (a.k.a. I SAID MID FIRST, LEAVE HERE NOW YOU F%%%IN' RETARD! I'LL REPORT U!)

I think that reports against players under level 15 should be weighed much higher than reports at level 30. For example, if at level 30 it takes 10 reports to get banned, at level 1-15 it should only take 2. This would help erase toxicity in the lower levels because there would be a much higher ban rate. I understand that these people don't care about their smurf accounts, but maybe if they get banned 2-3 times then they will get the point.

There is massive reporting in the lower levels.

Had a game recently where I typed in chat something like "yay so fun to play with a feeding bot" because we had one on our team that was throwing the game. Reported and got a warning later.

Now I know why NO ONE ever types in chat. They are afraid to even say "hi" for fear of the system punishing them due to false reporting.

The chat might as well not even exist if it's going to be this harsh. I've only come across 1 or 2 truly toxic people. The real toxicity is in the people doing troll reports because they know the system will falsely punish.

the first time i played this game i was drunk and went like 1-40 with fiora vs bots. Right now im gold and i still get flamed like 25% of my games. i cannot even imagine what it would be like playing a game with smurfs as a new player.

A few months ago, before I was even level 30 I was doing some unranked pvp. I was trying adc and explained to my support that I was newish to the game and had only done jungling in pvp. I understood the basic concepts from watching tons of streams as well as cooping vs bots, but didn't know pvp. His reply was "sorry I don't play support for new players" and he just left the lane and instead stole cs from the midlaner, leaving me to 1v2 the bottom lane (in essence hurting the entire team, not just me). He occasionally came to bottom lane to compete for my cs when the midlaner had out cs-ed him in that lane. This was in combination to various harassment and flaming from him to the entire team. The only good part was this unified the other 9 people against him, the enemy team knew clearly that he was ruining the game.

That is one good thing about this community: if someone is ruining the game for everyone, the other team might unify against him as well. I remember a while back in ARAM, there was a Viktor on the other team who kept walking right into the middle of my team, and just let us kill him. He wasn't casting any spells or attacking, he just walked up towards us and didn't stop until he died. If I remember right, the report I sent in to the tribunal said something along the lines of "While we greatly appreciated how he let us keep killing him, I doubt his team thought so."

Rito needs new chat feature, faster and stricter chat bans in low level games. If you're level 5 or 10 flaming/raging at teammates, maybe there is a problem w/ how you are approaching the game and you should just be quite about it instead of raging. Maybe you don't need 3/5 comments, you just need 1/0 starting in pregame lobby, so you can ask for a role or say 1 stupid thing, and then just be quiet the rest of the game and let the newbies play in peace.

Riot, we can save them if we try. Lyte smite the level 5s and give them faster chat restrictions for abusing teammates.

Some people have been playing LoL long enough that they forget that there are people who don't know the first thing about this game, or MOBAs in general.

When I first started, I played Annie and summoned Tibbers on a big minion wave because I thought Tibbers worked like a pet from MMOs. He showed up, helped me clear a wave, then left until I needed him 80 seconds later. This is the kind of stuff you must expect from people below level 30; a lot of them simply don't know any better. They're not in the right mindset to play League yet.

Hell, I used to rush item 3026 as my first item because I saw how often I was dying and thought that a GA would cut down on the number of times I died. It did, but I didn't even think about things like powerspikes and the negative effects of rushing resistances on DPS champions.

So if you're smurfing under level 30, you shouldn't be calling out your allies because they do things you would never do. Instead, you should be thankful that they all don't wander the jungle for ten minutes, wondering where they get the quest to kill ten wolves for the shopkeeper.

@OP The issue is that a large majority of players in low ELO are EXTREMELY toxic and do not listen. For example I was smurfing today on a Silver account, and I was very polite to my team the entire time but was met with extreme hostility and verbal abuse. This continued the whole game until I snapped on all of them and not only ended up losing the game because of them fed but got reported i'm sure. I reported them too but nothing happened

I'll give you an example.

Champ Select: I said "hey guys i'm smurfing, be open minded to my advice please i'm here to help"

their response P1: "LOL STFU NOOB YOU'RE NOT SMURF I CHECKED YOU UP YOU'RE SILVER NOOB GET FCKED"

P2: "Lol i'm feeding so carry me"

P3: "haha yeah don't lie noob you suck"

P4: "...."

In Game -

"hey jinx consider buying "x" item it might really help you"

Jinx - "STFU NOOB YOU SUCK DIC I RUSH LAST WHISPER FIRST ON JINX IM BETTER THAN YOU LOL, YOU'RE NOT A SMURF YOU DIDNT EVEN HIT YOUR Q THAT 1 TIME"

P2 - "/all chat We have pro master challenjour here watchout he's going to beat you all"

Other team: "LMFAO HE'S NOT SMURF HE SUCKS I HIT HIM WITH A Q ONE TIME HE CAN'T EVEN SIDESTEP"

P3: - "stfu noob we all know you're not a smurf you're trash, get rekt"

P4: silence

Team fight happens:

*whole team runs in and dies in enemy jg before I can even get there

First rule of smurfing - DON'T tell people you are smurfing.

The obvious reason is because you just sound like a condecending ass hole. The team will not listen to you because you've just turned them off, not because they're toxic but because you're an ass.

The less obvious reason is that many people say they're smurfing to get the role / pick they want and are lying about it, proceeding to feed and flame afterwords.

They might have raged at you because of all the trolls in this game. I mean, if I was playing and some random person told me that they were playing on their smurf, that they were good, that we should definitely listen to their advice, and then not be able to sidestep any skillshots, then I might be a bit suspicious as well.

And I think that you might have missed shosuko's point. He wasn't calling you an asshole, he was saying that the people on your team wouldn't listen to you because they think you're an asshole. He doesn't think that, your team does. Also, I think he was posting just to test your reaction. And then you proved his point. And he has a point, I've seen a lot of people say they were smurfing and then, in post-game chat, say that they were joking. This kind of pisses me off because often, the team makes sacrifices to satisfy the "elo-god."

And... well... I checked your chat/posts and you kind of copy pasted everything. Do you just go around the boards trying to find a place you can put your argument?

A question: is the last person on your team's silence bothering you? I'm not accusing you, I'm just sincerely curious. Hey there, I agree there are a lot of trolls in this game. That is part of the huge problem with League right now. Secondly that's exactly the massive problem with Silver Q right now. If you were thinking logically you would understand not even challenger players dodge every single skill shot, unless you're scripting it's almost nearly impossible to dodge every single skill shot in the game, that would be insane so I don't know why you have such suspicions that are rooted in illogical reasoning. I see you used the word "any" to my words if you read the script properly "i hit him with a Q one time" which is two very very different things

Secondly that's kind of the point of this point, why do Silver players think smurfs are automatically assholes when they are showing no signs of being what you are accusing them of. That is the issue with low elo players. If I had Dyrus/any high elo player comes in my game and go "Ok guys i'm giving you all a free lesson on League of Legends" I wouldn't immediately assume he was an asshole who was condescending me. That is inferiority complex. Thirdly I wouldn't become toxic to him for giving me advice even if I thought it was wrong, I might not do it but it wouldn't send me in a complete flux.

Sure no worries, it would be hard to offend me through League boards....I post on many places because I find Riot's complacency with issues that have been present for many years, sort of appalling. They vigorously defend that 99.99% of players are not toxic and do not get banned, however I can promise you despite Negativity Bias, this number is most definitely higher than what they are claiming. This is not my normal acc that I play on I use this account solely for boards use, so I don't get people trolling me in ranked when they notice my name etc.

Lastly, the last person on my team's silence does not bother me in one bit. He's choosing not to take part in the disgusting acts of his teammates, I can only assume he's fed up and does not condone their actions and wants to get through the game as calmly as possible without any confrontation.

Lastly I'm not a troll, farthest thing from actually. I'm a competitive person, and I love to win. I hate to lose, I play in this elo, because my even though my main is very high ranked and has all champions and runes I could possibly want. I wouldn't be there long if I was constantly trying out new champs in ranked, and with my competitive spirit I don't find much enjoyment in norms, and it's mostly a crap shoot of random builds. So I take to ranked in a low elo to learn mechanics and play of new champions until I can climb -said account- to a high enough level I would test out a ranked game on my main account. I still usually maintain an extremely high win rate on these smurfs but I genuinely would love to help polite, mature silver players get to their respective level through advice

And if we try to proportion the reasoning of toxic people, maybe in their heads, you're a troll and they're doing a good thing by oppressing the baddy that is lying about his rank. I really don't know. I mean, I know that once, there was this horribly toxic adc that was completely abusing the sup even though the sup was only level 3 or something. I was really fed up and I, though ashamed about it now, cursed at him and told him to stfu. Not proud of it, but at the time, I felt that I did the right thing by protecting a new player.

And thank you for understanding the last player's silence. Sometimes, I really don't understand my team.

And while at first you seemed rude, I think that you might just be curt. Precise, to the point, and see no use in packaging your words. Maybe when I'm finally ranked I can enjoy a game with you. I hope you stay nice even though it may seem pointless! [slayer-jinx-wink]

Powerspikes occur when a champion's power increases dramatically after obtaining a certain item or level. A few examples are corki buying triforce or ap kog reaching level 11.

Playing around these spikes and using them to your advantage can help you snowball games.
