Anyone else struggle to acquire soul gems

I play League daily, and have for years. I've averaged 3-5 games/day since the hextech crafting system came out. I have multiple level 6/7 masteries. I have had decent luck with rare and legendary skins. I already own all champions, which isn't the system's fault. So this isn't a qq thread about it. I think free stuff is awesome. I could nitpick at how long it takes to earn chests and keys, but the stuff is free so I won't complain. My point, and my question, is this- is anyone else having an inordinately difficult time getting gemstones? Hextech crafting has been out for over a year, and I've gotten 2. At this rate, it will take literally 5 years to unlock just one of the hextech skins. Is this anomalous mad luck, or is everyone noticing this? I just want the Annie or the Darius skin without investing 500$ into chests. I repeat, I don't want a rage/qq fest. Just a dialogue about gem stones, and to start the conversation about possibly introducing them with marginally more frequency.

I kinda wish they expand the mastery system to like level 10 or 20 or something, and you can unlock an exclusive skin for that champion when you reach that threshhold. It would take a long time, but each champ should have a hextech skin that you can unlock at that time.

Riot did increase the drop chance of gemstones since the hextech system was put together, so it could just be you have terrible luck.

The only things I've gotten from hextech are singed skins .-.

Meanwhile I have this one friend who's gotten essentially every skin they ever wanted from hextech. Some of the ones I can think of are mecha zero sion, arcade ahri ON LAUNCH DAY, ravenborn lb, literally 3 dunkmaster Darius, every teemo skin except one or two, every fiddlesticks skin except dark candy and guardian of the sands, and several other rare skins.

Hey Fiddle,

This is what I did to solve my problem of not having gemstones. I re-rolled the skins I obtained, it kinda sucks because you give up some skin shards for it but then again if you are using gemstones to make a skin shard permanent it takes a lot of them and that just leads back to original problem. Its free stuff so I think the re-roll option is really awesome. What I was doing before than was exchanging some skin shards of skins I already owned for gems but it seemed very inefficient.

I agree. I got every chest available + bought like 10-20.... and got 1 gemstone. I really want to know if someone was able to get all 10 without buying chests.... i doubt it.
