@Riot - Why Does the Gameplay Board Even Exist?

Hello Everyone,

This discussion topic isn't just for those informed Rioters (to most likely ignore). I hope that this topic can be for all viewers to discuss because it's something that has truly bothered me for a while, and I'm sure it's bothered many others as well. The topic being: Why does the Gameplay Board even exist anymore?

League of Legends has been changing (to the disapproval of many) at an accelerated rate over the past few seasons with the inclusion of new items, updated champion kits, in-game objectives and so on. The most recent changes (i.e. the confirmed discontinuance of Solo Queue, the mess that was the Mage Roster Update, etc.) have all been received negatively by much of the League of Legends community. In response, many players create posts on the Gameplay Boards in the hopes that they can provide meaningful feedback for the designers who work on these aspects of the game so that improvements can be made. However, those same designers largely disregard the feedback of the players, and will even rebut the comments made by fans on the rare occasion that they do answer a discussion topic on this board.

I understand that this board can be filled with harsh criticisms of Rioters and their contributions, making it bothersome to read at times. I'm also aware that Riot employees are by no means obligated to respond to posts on these boards. But it seems hypocritical and insincere to me for a company to constantly claim that it wants to improve the line of communication between its employees and its players, then design a forum where players can share helpful feedback only to constantly ignore the requested feedback.

This isn't meant to imply that Riot or its employees don't communicate at all with the community. Just take a look at the some of the posts on the Story, Art & Sound board or the Memes and Games board and your spirits will be lifted by Rioters replying to posts about how people just love Pool Party Fiora's SJW-approved haircut or about how someone should really make a League version of "Here Come Dat Boi" with Tahm Kench replacing that wacky green frog. In all seriousness though, it's a shame that the Gameplay board (arguably the most important board in this forum) doesn't receive the same level of attention from Riot. Unfortunately, these board speak for themselves and provide a snapshot of how Riot appears to value some forms of feedback while completely disregarding other forms.

Lastly, when people down vote posters for making threads that attempt to hold particular Rioters accountable for their questionable actions (or lack thereof), you're only hurting yourselves by legitimizing the inaction of those Rioters and disheartening those posters who are attempting to speak for the community in hopes of enacting positive change. But then again, this post will probably be ignored anyway just like most of the other posts, which brings us back to the original question at hand: Why does the Gameplay board even exist?

The reason that Rioters do not come to the gameplay boards is that it is filled with people that just complain about how ap Zilean's ult has too much scaling(how is that an issue? It heals and nothing else, the scaling is only fully used on tanks.) and other inane things like that, or spew abuse at them.

You will notice that when the Rioters do respond, it is to the polite people. The only time they respond to unreasonably rude people(that I have seen) is if they had already replied to someone else, and the person swarmed them with abuse that they had to then reply to since they were already there.

For instance, KateyKhaos in this thread. Notice how Katey replied to the initial post, which was polite, and then a user started spewing hate at her.(incidentally, this was given to me as an example of her being rude. I fear for that person's interpersonal relationships if that is considered rude) If stuff like this was waiting for you in Gameplay, would you willingly comment on it? (And even then they still go there from time to time to spread news.)
