@Ed The Conqueror - Jhin's Inner Opera

I've been playing Jhin for the past few days now and I must admit that one of my favorite aspects about him is the music associated with this champion. The team who worked on all of his audio (including his login theme and teasers) did a great job.

I was reading over some Rioter posts about him and someone (possibly Gypsylord or someone on the sound team) commented that the opera that Jhin hears is in his mind. Did you ever consider including composed opera pieces that only Jhin could hear in game instead of the respective maps' background music? Do you think this could be implemented for other champions or would it be too distracting? I personally think it would be really cool if Jhin would have been able to hear different pieces of music in his head at different times in game (i.e. when he would be chasing down an enemy at low health, or walking to lane, or fighting an epic monster).

I'll keep that in mind if we ever do a legendary/ultimate skin for Jhin!

Thanks for your great question, and for your kind words about our work!

This is something that Utora would answer better than I but I'm going to give it a shot.

Regarding opera, I decided to steer clear of being too on-the-nose stylistically. The idea was to provide a background for his VO lines, and the result would be almost like the recitative style in opera.

I personally think having Jhin-specific music playing in the background would be distracting. Our sound designers always go the extra mile in ensuring that they give the right amount of aural feedback in our game, which lets you know what is happening around you, and the music we have in our maps also have a bunch of small changes to help give clues about the overall progression of the game, all which are very carefully tuned. Opera-like music might rob some of that intelligibility for our Jhin players.

While this would be awesome and somewhat on par with Jhins lore....DJ Sona for instance, an Ultimate skin which does the change music thing, will feel less unique in this sense if a regular non-skinned champion can do it as well.
