Most Support Item Quests are great but...

Raoul··35 votes·2,719 views

item 3401 is great for the tank supports who buy it, the passive shield makes playing a melee tank so much better, and you dont automaticly lose tro anything with a poke...

item 3092 is great for pokers, The Speedbuff helps to get in position for the next attack, and even thoughits a brand buff, I still like it...

But for item 3069 ... I guess it was supposed to be for Utility Supports, but honestly, its pretty medicore. Sure, one Level in an Ability sounds great, but then you have to see that alot of utility supports dont get that much from leveling up, but the actual impact it has on the game is very small. NOt to forget that the bonus becomes worthless when the game goes to Level 18.

The question here would be, what would be a good Quest reward for Utility supports? Well, I would say a small CC ability, but I also belive that the game engine doesnt allow for more than 4 ability keys, so that is out of question... What about giving the Item an Aura effect? Maybe, to make it less passive, allow the support to choose. Like Kha Zix evolutions, as soon as you finish the quest you can choose between... lets say... an armor aura, a magic resistance aura, a mana regen Aura or a ... ok, i cant think of a good forth one, maybe movement speed aura?

Of course these are only 2 ideas that I had, I am sure there are more, if you have any, post them here.

Item actives last 15% longer CC lasts 10% longer Vision radius increased by 15% Ward limit increased by 1

I like the increased vision radius, it would be a really unique bonus.

The extra ward would just put pressure on supports to only get this item...

DarkRitual10 votes

Agreed that extra ward would put it too far above the others for supports, but just trying to consider options. Perhaps instead +10% Stealth Ward Duration could be okay, without feeling too necessisary.

Raoul5 votes

Yeah that sounds good. But I really like your idea with the increased vision range.

ZyniX1 votes

Increased vision range sounds nice for squishy supports like soraka. Makes it a bit safer to ward.

If anything all the support items should have those two passive. it would help greatly, if anything have it increase when you upgrade the item.

I like the vision radius bonus but would that apply to just you as a champ or to wards also?

The one thing I could think of is make it like the relic shield line. You slowly get a shield similar to the active on that item.

For the coin line, giving a slowly building MS aura to yourself and allies that deactivates when in combat. Might make it too similar to spellthiefs though, but it would be closer to the fully upgraded version of coin.

Ideally, champ + wards. Even JUST wards would be fine.

No, since that's based on a channel. Things like Locket, Sightstone, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Frost Queens Claim, Talisman of Ascension, Zz'rot, etc.

Also consider +10% CDR cap increase.

If you are a passive enchancter, your goal is to use your spells to help your team. It sounds pretty strong to be able to cast your shields/heal/anything more often. But at the same time, it will amount to only a few seconds faster in most cases. But it is still nice and not temporary like the skill point.

I'm imagining 55% cdr Thresh. I don't want to live in that world.

55% + 40% CDR Sona

Makes some people want to play support maybe.

Late game Sona is actually really fun and I think Sona is kinda due for a buff after all her technical indirect nerfs (No CDR on locket, forced to get Redemption Locket which has no AP).

Extra heal and shield power? Restores mana on kill or assist?

I'd take either of these - the second one seems much more awesome.

EDIT: What about 5% extra cdr (max 50%): it won't be necessary for most supports to take it, but would be really nice on utility supports.

MysterQ1 votes

Meh it is already on a mastery tab Dangerous Game or something. I don't find myself running out of mana in mid-late game unless I am really spamming hard.

RisenDarkKnight2 votes

It already does restore mana on kill and assist...

Read the item, in addition to the extra skill point you get bonus gold and mana on kill or assist.

Is Talismans Quest reward worth it?

I'll respond by asking a question in kind: How many supports get noticeably better utility from a single extra level in one spell?

Nymzo4 votes

Auras are very difficult to balance. Remember old Aegis?

I remember when I started League, there was an item that would give a passif mana regen, it got removed in S4.

But yeah, I never understood why the elexir doesn't give a free level-up.

Azure Dancer4 votes

I keep repeating myself. At least a full lvl up would be nice

MysterQ4 votes

Even then it is meh. It is better for sure because supports are naturally underlevel. But the reward for being support is .... being slightly less underlevel lol.

There was an idea thrown around in another topic where you increase your cooldown reduction and its cap by 5%, up to a total of 10% with the mastery totaling 50% cooldown reduction altogether. That would be a neat idea imo, and it could be added onto the elixir's current effects. Maybe add onto that a 10% reduced active items cooldown, achieving 30% with Ruby Sightstone? I don't know.

I feel the main draw of Talisman is that you gain more gold from its passive than the other ones (more gold from passively existing in a lane, more gold from pushing with your team, more gold from kills) and its upgrade into the ward version is cheaper than the other two.

Basically you get it to make bank faster.

Hellpyre1 votes

How's your experience with that? I've found that I rarely get more than 1 gold coin in a wave, so I fall behind the other two if the lane isn't getting kills.

crippler382 votes

one gold coin a wave is about fine for me, that's about as much as targon's gives you and you don't have to fight your team for it late game.

Keep in mind that when you hit 650 you get coins from enemies that die too, increasing each assist by 20 gold.

FourVsFive2 votes

If it allowed you to put a extra skill point in your ult making it so you can have a level 3 ult at lvl 11 it be worth it. But I do like the idea of having 5% more cdr +5% max cap so you can get 50% cdr with masteries.

Hupsis2 votes

I think this would be a nice effect:

"When taking lethal damage, you will survive with 1hp and become invulnerable for 2 second (DoTs are also removed except ignite)" - 3 min cooldown an coins gathered reduce cd by 10 sec.

TFW you end up not understanding the question and choose the wrong answer.... LOL

I wonder how the talisman interacts with udyr

MysterQ1 votes

Bug/glitch/poor code he can get 19 skill points if used correctly.

Miror B1 votes

For me, the only character I could see buying the coin thingy would be zilean now, as he's always relied on getting levels ahead of people (his passive) and synergizes so well with it due to tear giving him the mana regen the coin lacks.

Blood Mefist1 votes

Heals and shields on an ally champion grant them a small movement speed buff. Solidifies it as the enchanter support item while doubling down on the theme of speed with its active.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

Does it not allow you to get your ult earlier or does the quest not finish by that point in the game?

DarkRitual7 votes

Nope. You gain a skillpoint at your current level.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

What if they made it that way though? Sounds powerful to me.

DarkRitual2 votes

It still wouldn't feel really great unless you hit it as you're getting lvl10 and can rank 2 your ult. Even then most supports only real impact of r2 ult is cooldown time. Then you actually hit lvl 11 and your quest bonus is effectively gone. At that point, why not just have a cdr effect, or something that has a better feel all the time?

Not saying it wouldn't be better, but going from 3/10 to 4/10 when 7/10 options exist just doesn't feel like the right move.

Hellpyre3 votes

You can't level an ability beyond what you could get at that level - so if you finish the quest at level 5, you can't put a point into ult until you hit 6. If you get it a level 8, you can't max a skill until level 9 anyways.

RisenDarkKnight1 votes

You usually finish the quest between lvl 8 and lvl 10 depending how many coins you get. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to finish it pre 6.

Nightshade Rose1 votes

As a support player i'd say they could give a slow cleanse aoe ability for compleating quest, because speed up doesn't cancel our slows like slows cancel out speed ups.

SolarisCorvus1 votes

Riot says auras are too invisible hence why aegis no longer has its aura passive.

Xienwolf1 votes

Give it Alistar's healing after X minion deaths passive effect. Continues to be an insanely passive item overall, but now kinda awesome. And it maintains the status as the sustain gold item.

Rhaegar11 votes

And that mini game sucks. Seriously. If we are pushing I just cant pick up coins under enemy turret. Or coin drops after wave is gone, but adc doesn't bother and just gets back to our half and I would have to go 1v2 to pick up that goddamn coin. Fuck this. Honestly.

Wolfeur1 votes

+10% heal and shield power, increased to 20% for self healing and shielding.

Sexy Jack Rabbit1 votes

A rioters justification to the way it was done was the if you could level abilities a level earlier, that is when they start having an easier time clearing minions, but Supports don't wave clear???

The Yetii Rider1 votes

The quest reward is Emperor's Favor. Restoring missing mana on a kill or assist is excellent for a utility support, and about as much power as a speed boost on hit.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

It's only a meager 6% of missing mana, and most utility supports tend to bring mana regen. Besides, you can get as much off of a few minions. It's pretty weak, given that you could sell it and buy any other mana regen item.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

A) It's 8%

B) Team fights happen very quickly, grabbing a nice burst of mana after three enemies have died could make the difference between you saving your teammates against the last two or your teammates dying. It's not going to turn a 5v5 around, but it could mean the difference between a clean ace and a 5 for 2, which is certainly valuable.

Vekkna1 votes

I think it would be cool if the quest reward was summoner 13
