I don't know how to feel about the new Rek'sai Ult

I liked the old ult, mainly due to it being global.

Now they just turned it into a burrowing version of Warwick's ult except that it's point and click and without the stun portion (can't think of the word for it). Plus the tunnel used in the ult explodes immediately after use. It's almost like they're turning her ult into Lee Sin's Q dash basically since she can only travel to marked targets in order for the ult to work -_-

And the jet ski is gone from the pool party skin :(

Taking away the global part means she can finally get some love elsewhere, pro power budgets and crap.

That really sucks :(

The amount of amazing plays and general awesome feel good of the character came from her ult. Are they at least making the rest of her kit more fun to use or is she still a knock up bot?

It's more like an execute now right? It's just a way to guarantee the kill post-flash. Its not flashy or snazzy, but looking at her kit now it does seem necessary to include.

When they say things like "good in pro play but subpar in soloq", they're usually talking about stuff like global ults. Pros utilize it way more effectively than in soloq. That's why they have to change it.

I am personally quite looking forward to the changes, though I could imagine the ult being very punishing if you try fight her 1v1 and don't win the initial brawl by a significant margin.
