General thought post to see how people would change the game right now.

You get control to make a patch, you can: Buff/nerf any champion Hotfix champions (minor reworks of champs, kinda like how maokai e now doesn't do damage on landing) buff/nerf objectives. Buff and nerf items: You are allowed to be somewhat vague as you don't have to know every value out of your head. Add/remove keystones, but you have to give a strong reason. You can't: Remove a champ. Hard rework a champ(no swain level rework)

An example of my ideal patch is in the comments:

#Champions ##Zoe Q: Ap and base damage halved, but damage get's multiplied by 2.3 if have landed a q in the last 20 seconds. This prevents the champion from one shotting people as fast as she does now.(suggestion stolen from kshaway from youtube) E: Sleep time get's increased by the travel time(Stolen from a board post, I can't find it anymore so I am sorry that). At close range it only sleeps for 0.75 seconds. Champs that get hit by q while asleep take 1.5 times regular damage+ bonus damage if q already hit in the last 20 seconds(see first change). W: Minion drops can activate the orb part of the zoe w but don't give her acces to summoner spells or active items. This will drastically decrease the rng luck of zoe players.

Twitch

Q: Going into stealth gives people within 2000 range an alert called smell that shows that he is in the area.

Nasus

W. removed the attack speed debuff, increased the slow near the end, increased the cooldown to prevent slow chaining. This to prevent a nasus that can 1v1 anybody in mid/late game regardless of stacks.

Yasuo

W: windwall only starts blocking once the windwall is fully out, this forces yasuo to think about his wind wall placement.

Items

##Static shiv/RapidFire Cannon/Infinity edge/other adc only items:

  • extra combine gold, as they reach late game too soon.

##Duskblade: bonus damage only procs if the attacked target is isolated.

##Blade of the ruined king Base damage down by 10 Unique passive: Close range champions deal the current hp damage as magic damage+ 1,5 times the damage. This to make fighters more viable

#objectives

Towers

Added: towers deal a percentage of the targets maximum hp in true damage after the first tower shot, this only applies to champions. All towers have bonus armor+ magic resist for the first 7 minutes. Inhib towers+nexus towers shoot out a laser dealing magic damage, slowly increasing in damage as they focus the same target. This to prevent armor tanks from tanky every tower forever.

Dragons

Rework: a team get's 4 buffs from dragons slain in the following order, this to get rid of rng.

  1. First buff 5 percent ms out of team
  2. Healing out of combat for 3 percent of missing hp and mana per 5 seconds
  3. 5 percent damage to champions.
  4. 10 percent damage to turrets. After 30 minutes an elder dragon will still spawn doubling the dragon effects you then have. I never got the elemental dragons, rng is bad in my opinion.

#Keystones/runes ##Kleptomancy: removed. It is a terrible keystone because the rng makes it impossible to completely balance. Instead there should be a rune that gives you a standard reward for procing it. It might be more boring, but it is more fair as well.

##press the atttack: For close range champions, the bonus damage keeps stacking over time as you fight longer switching targets champions cost you all your stacks, other champs don't deal bonus damage to your targets. the stacks get lost after being out of combat for 3 seconds. This is to create a keystone for fighters

Grasp of the undying:

Scales with bonus ad as well as max hp. Damages still halved for range champions.

Are we allowed to bring old items back/add new items? If So:

Champions:

Soraka - landing Q now causes the Rejuvination buff to restore a small amount of mana based on rank. Using W applies this mana restore as well. (This is a callback to Season 4 'I restore HP and Mana' Soraka.

Items (HUGEEEEEE Section) Ranger's Trailblazer - Returned Poacher's Knife - Returned and Buffed; invade smite cooldown refund increased to 75% from 50% and gold bonus increased to 30 from 20. Bloodrazor - Removed (see below) Devourer & Sated Devoruer - Returned Madred's Bloodrazor - Returned; no AD given, but provides health and attack speed, deals 4% max HP adaptive damage. Intended as a defense-oriented version of item 3153. (Not sure about the adaptive damage part, though) item 3124 - Reworked; no longer provides Phantom Hit (as this is once again locked behind Devourer) but now causes the wielder to restore 15 + 10% bonus AD + 25% AP health on-hit (not 100% sure on this) when fully stacked. Healing is halved for ranged champions. item 3087 - Now deals a flat 100 magic damage to four targets when energized, (down from 60-160 to 5 targets, based on level of wielder). Can still critically strike, but bonus damage to minions reduced to 30% for ranged champions (remains at 65% for melee users). (This effectively reverts it to its Season 5 state) item 3094 - No longer increases energized charge rate by 25%. I always found this stupid, even as an ADC main. item 3031 & item 3508 - Cost increased to 3600 from 3400. item 3078 - Crit & AP Returned. I always saw this item as the 'Jack of all-trades, I have every offensive stat in the game' type of item. item 3046 - Always ignores unit collision, rather than only when near champions. item 1412 - Give me my armor pen back item 3147 item 3142 - Reverted the Lethality to Flat Armor Pen; Duskblade reverted to the mini Zed ult, but now an activated mark with a delay. item 3137 - Returned to the game as a potential option alongside item 3139. Cost increased from 2700 to 3600 to match Mercurial, but now additionally grants 40 AP. (50% AS, 40 AP, 10% CDR, 65 MR; is this too much?) item 3139 - Removes all debuffs again. (item 3140 should still only remove CC). Applied to Dervish Blade as well; see above. item 3085 - Side bolts deal 50% AD damage, up form 40%. Can still critically strike and apply on-hit effects. item 3711 - No Changes. Riot has officially inserted a clause where they are not allowed to nerf Tracker's Knife with effects that do not effect item 3706 or item 3715 (Thus meaning only things inherited from item 1041 or item 1039 may change). Additionally, the item may not be removed unless a suitable sightstone-based replacement for jungle vision has been found.

Keystones: Fervor of Battle - Returned. Dunno where to put it, though.

for reference I play support, so I don't hit up on top stuff...like at all

  • item 3147 takes a hit - damage or cd on the damage
  • adc items take a nerf on their attack speed, not just some 3% drop overall. like adcs can only break the attack speed limit with a very attack speed heavy kit.
  • change most abilities whose only point is to just add stats like tris' attack speed or vayne ult. 2 evenly matched champs shouldn't have to worry if the other one can stat check them with a button.
  • more item choice, but spread out the stats. ie adc items are focused on bringing attack speed, crit, or damage. mages have to pick between ap, cdr, or mana. so on. there would be items that give a range of stats like item 3078 , but they are low stats would a good effect.
  • nasus gets a more interesting passive, gets less stacks per q, no longer has a root... maybe instead of the slow he sets an enemy up with a debuff that adds effects to his other stuff so he can have a bit of a flow in a fight instead of RWEQQQQQQQQQQQ did I win? nas shouldn't be nuking squishy targets late game.
  • fiddlesticks gets a rework that doesn't turn him into a totally new champion. like fo real, don't ruin my boi.
  • rageblade takes a hit if you are ranged.
  • udyr gets an actual kit instead of making animal noises with different buffs
  • hard cc stops dashes, jumps, hops, skips, rolls, dives, falls, zooms, flipity flops, and so on. looking at you ez and tris.
  • zoe CAN be stopped during her ult. reward skillful players that hard cc her during the small window and challenge zoe players to make smart ult decisions.
  • about 400 million more champ interactions like the new/reworked champs are getting. those are the best thing that has come out in a long time...
  • a better way to track honor. not super important but right now is just as worthless if you want to track how much you need/have.
  • the player xelaker stops getting annie shards in his level up/ chest rewards. he doesn't even play annie for goodness sake. (I don't have champs to buy so I save the shards for sh*ts and gigs and I have about a million annie shards)
  • ward clearing items have a shorter time to clear. one clearing ward shouldn't let a team clear the entire area of the map or deny vision on an obj the entire time it takes to kill it.
  • If you are killing a pink ward and the person who placed it places another one, you get partial gold.
  • the lil devil teemo skin always uses the devil voice instead of only when he dies/recalls
  • riot shares the photos of the never ending office party that keeps them from doing anything to the adc class
  • CT gets a little office helper that says, "don't you think that's a tad much?" when making new champs. (a joke calm your tits)
  • the "you rich boi buy this garbage" store comes back around again with new, useless stuff so I have a point to all this essence. the last store was SUPER disappointing imo.
  • make chroma skins buyable with a hefty amount of BE. like 4800 BE for a chroma.
  • more on screen effects on a kill, like urgot's ult chains. just a little flair on screen for killing blows.
  • like 4000 more jhin lines. dude is great.
  • minions are no longer unassailable bastions of entrapment....
  • turrets are more like 2 or maybe even 3 pieces of paper strong instead of a wet paper bag stretched over an over-inflated balloon.

Before you downvote give me some back and forth on stuffs peeps, I'm shooting rough ideas in between my german class and my communications class so this isn't a long thought out list.

I would probably bring back the empowered basic attacks on Skarner's Q

Make it so that players cannot have both static shiv and rapid fire cannon

Make new items for item 3191 item 2053 item 3140 to build into

Make an alternative to item 3075 where instead of reflecting damage it reduced movement speed by a small amount and similar to the hydra build path you cannot have both thornmail and the alternative

  • PD, RFC and SS cost increased by 100

  • (something about junglers ganking too much due to their camp respawn timers being too high)

  • Redemption's heal and Locket's shield are modified by +30% if used on one ally (yourself), +15% if used on two allies, -15% on four allies and -30% for five allies (something about making support items less gold efficient)

  • Herald charge damage halved

  • Special keybind for Eye of the Herald instead of replacing your trinket

  • Your control wards replace your current trinket if you have no place left in your inventory (you're allowed to buy control wards at full build)

  • Mountain Dragon slain bonus nerfed to 7.5/15/22.5% bonus true damage to towers and epic monsters

  • Infernal Dragon slain bonus nerfed to 6/12/18% bonus AD and AP

  • Cloud Dragon slain bonus modified to 35/50/65 bonus MS while out of combat

  • Ocean Dragon slain bonus takes effect after 6 seconds (vs 8 on live) of taking no damage

Ok. I'll give you the fix patch.

The Jungle Camps respawn faster. Camps starting health increased, but health per level reduced.

Tenacity Reduces the duration of displacements except for instant displacements (pulls/hooks, Trundle pillar).

Runic Echoes AP increased to 80. (60 AP is a fucking joke while Warrior gives 60 AD) -Nidalee and Elise nerfed to compensate. They shouldn't hold back anyone else from jungling who is AP.

Bami's Cinder Cost increased to 1200 gold. Health increased to 350. Builds from 2 Health Crystals

Cinderhulk Builds from just Bami's Cinder and Smite Enchant, just due to Bami's change.

Sunfire Cape Build path changed to Chain Vest + Cloth Armor + Bami's Cinder. Cost increased by 100 gold (2900 -> 3000).

Thornmail Removed.

Bramble Vest Removed.

Adaptive Helm Damage reduction reduced to 12%. Health increased by 50. Cooldown Reduction removed.

Maokai Heal changed to missing health.

Grasp of the Undying Damage reduced to 3% of max Hp. (2% for ranged). Heal reduced to 1.5% of max Hp (1% for ranged). Health gained reduced to 3 (1 for ranged).

Aftershock Armor and Magic Resist removed. Now grants 5%-10% damage reduction for the duration. The radius of damage increased by 50. -Now no one with Armor/MR ratios can abuse it. Also no longer broken (I hope).

The Black Cleaver Armor Pen per stack increased to 5% (Max 30%).

Titanic Hydra -5 AD, cost reduced by 200.

Ravenous Hydra -5 AD, cost reduced by 200.

Sterak's Gage Cost reduced by 200

Maw of Malmortius Passive is now unnamed. (Can stack with Sterak's again. Graves can't even buy Sterak's.)

Phage +5 AD

Jaurim's Fist Passive removed. Health increased to 300.

Ninja Tabi Auto attack damage reduction reduced to 8%.

#'New' Keystone: Fervor of Battle 4th Precision Keystone You gain 2 stacks of Fervor for 8 seconds with each basic attacks on-hit against an enemy champion, stacking up to 8 stacks. Ranged champions only gain one stack per basic attack. Each stack of Fervor adds 1 - 8 (based on level) AD for a maximum of 8 - 64 (based on level) AD.

Lethal Tempo Duration increased to 7 seconds, no longer increases duration if you damage a champion again. Melee Bonus: Gain 10% movement speed duration the duration.

Camille Revert most recent buffs.

Kayn Passive fills up faster at earlier levels (only noticeable if you play him in a lane, should be the same at level 10).

Fiora Passive reduced to 1.75% + (3.75% per 100 AD) true damage. W - Riposte: Attack speed slow reduced to 35%.

Jayce Just nerf him or fix him. I don't care as long as he's not an auto-win, combo without counterplay champion.

Vladimir Nerfed. I don't care how.

Sion Nerf.

Nasus Ult gives 25%/35%/50% Q cooldown reduction from 50%. Wither nerfed.


That's it for topside, now let's head to mid and bot lane. Mid changes corresponding to Mage Item Update coming next patch.

Lost Chapter "Haste" passive (that gives CDR) removed from it and all upgrades. Mana restore reduced to 15% missing mana (from 20% max mana). -The end of mid lane being a waveclear stonewall lane ends today.

Twin Shadows Removed. No one is going to buy into a 60 AP item with a utility active. The active isn't balanceable and is kinda toxic since it lacks counterplay.

Sorcery Shoes Magic Pen reduced to 15.

Void Staff Magic Pen changed to 40% bonus magic pen. AP increased back to 80.

Morellonomicon Heal Reduction only applies to targets below 35% health.

Zoe W Reworked, Bubble Barrage. Active: Gain 30/35/40/45/50% movement speed for 2 seconds and 3 Bubbles orbit Zoe for the next 5 seconds, hurling themselves at nearby enemies (prioritizes lowest health champion) dealing 25/35/45/55/65 (+20% AP) per orb. -Fixes RNG problem, opens up her Q to lose damage.

Galio Nerfed -Mid lane Gnar

Duskblade Reverted to release state (but gives 18 lethality instead of armor pen, -5 AD).

Ghostblade Active now grants 40% attack speed if melee. Out of combat speed reduced to 20.

BF Sword Reduced to 35 AD. Cost reduced to 1150 gold. -Makes bot lane less snowballing.

Infinity Edge -5 AD

Essence Reaver -5 AD. CDR changed to 20% initially, none for buying Crit.

Zeal +50 cost

Stattik Shiv "Can critical strike" changed to "Can critically strike for 70% more damage" (105% more damage with IE). -Does less damage if it crits, 100%/150% more to 70%/105% more.

Rapid Firecannon Proc damage increased by 10-20 (based on champion level). Cannot coexist with Stattik Shiv.

Berserker Grieves -5% AS

Death's Dance -5 AD

The Bloodthirster -5 AD, cost reduced by 150. (Will be 50 gold above DD.)

#New Item: Rapier Cost: 800 Gold (109.375% gold efficient) Stats: 35% Attack Speed.

Last Whisper - Rework Cost: 1500 gold Builds from: Pickaxe + 625 Gold Stats: 25 AD, 35% bonus armor pen.

Executioner's Calling Removed.

Mortal Reminder - Reworked Cost: 3000 Gold Builds from: Last Whisper + Caulfield's Warhammer Stats: 50 AD, 10% CDR, 35% Bonus Armor Pen

Lord Dominik's Regards - Reworked Cost: 3000 Gold Builds from: Last Whisper + Rapier Stats: 40 AD, 40% Attack Speed, 35% Bonus Armor Pen

Guinsoo's Rageblade - Reworked Cost: 3000 Gold Builds from: Pickaxe + Rapier + Blasting Wand Stats: 35 AD, 35% AS, 45 AP. Passive: Basic attacks grant 4% attack speed, 3 AD, and 4 AP for 5 seconds (stacks up to 8 times, 2 stacks for melee). While you have 8 stacks, gain Guinsoo's Rage. Guinsoo's Rage: Basic attacks deal 15 (+15% bAD)(+7.5 AP) onhit in an AoE.

Blade of the Ruined King Cost reduced by 200. Onhit damage reduced to 6.5% for ranged champions. Lifesteal increased to 15%. Minimum onhit damage increased to 25. -See this nice revert. Also, Kog'maw/Varus can't break it with Rageblade anymore.

Varus Passive: Attack speed bonus ratio reduced 20% bAS / 40% bAS. Q - Piercing Arrow: Nerfs reverted. E - Hail of Arrows: Damage reduced to 70/100/130/160/190 from 70/105/140/175/210

Tristana Hell if I know, but nerf.

Xayah W: Bonus damage reduced to 15% from 20%. E - Blade Caller: Damage reduced by 5/5/5/5/5, Critical ratio reduced to increase damage up to 20% more. E - Blade Caller: Mana cost increased by 15.

Ezreal Nerf.

#Shields Damage dealt to shields now ignores resistances. -Fixes "shields are too big" issue, also makes shields on tanks less effective.

Nautilus Buff the fuck out of his shield, plus whatever else he needed to be viable.

Thresh Some base HP buff. Souls armor bonus is now half base armor, half bonus armor.

Soraka, Nami, Redemption Reduce healing by ~10-15% because GW is near gone.

Alistar Nerf

Braum Nerf

Lulu Polymorph duration reduced to 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 I don't know if she needs compensation, but, obviously, she's not excluded from having it.


#The Map Itself

Turrets: Fortification reduced to 50% damage reduction, but duration increased to 7 minutes. Bot Lane Turret: Gains 75% damage reduction for the first 7 minutes.

Minion Damage against Turrets 60% -> 50%

Inner Turrets: +250 health. Inhibitor Turrets: +400 health. Regains laser. Nexus Turrets: +500 health. Regains laser.

Infernal Dragon: Percent AD/AP bonus changed to Percent Bonus damage (same numbers). Ocean Dragon: Increased by 1% for health/mana regen. (Per stack) Cloud Dragon: +10 more out of combat MS. (Per stack)

Crit is removed for straight AD

Towers now have more defensive stats and deal max health percent damage.

Bruiser items become cheaper

ADC items become more pricey

Life steal on ADCs is cut down by half.

Gold gains from kills are reduced by 15%

Hitbox on evey champion is fixed.

Zoe receives a large cool down increase and damage nerfs.

Orianna cool down is increased

Like 15 new items, none removed. Mages can do crit builds for abilites Assassins and fighters that can do crit build with items that can rival marksmen botlanes Support items for mages granting AP or mana. A new mage that uses Mana as a health extension More PROJECT: skins New permanent gamemodes and maps - Return of Dominon, bigger maps than the Rift. Removal of smite items and its dependencies to allow more candidates to jungle. Introduce 6 more summoner spells. Orange Essence value reverts (or remove Hextech crafting altogether.) Introduce party BE/EXP bonuses

I'm just salty and bored that Rift is the only game mode that anyone ever cares about. I'd do 3's more if I had 2 friends on that were interested. I hate playing it and one gets on and we have too many or when I only have 1 other friend and I have to queue with 1 random, which ends up not being fun for both parties.

Ahri Remove movementspeed proc. Brand Reduce base damage, increase ratio's. Camille Muting the player also mutes the champion. (heavy nerf I know) Ekko Remove stun, change to massive slow. Fiora Riposte can no longer parry summoner spells. Fizz Increase troll pole CD towards Vlad pool levels. Gangplank Remove slow and crit from barrels. Gnar Reduce damage during Mega Gnar, increase tankiness during Mega Gnar, remove AA passive proc on boomerang, increase AA passive proc damage. Graves Remove true grit, first AA after dash will knockback (distance increase by adjacency). Illaoi Increase tentacle slam delay by 0,2 seconds. Irelia Can no longer stun champions if both are full health. Janna Can no longer cancel R channel. JarvanIV Enemy champions caught in R are grounded, reduce R damage. Jayce Make knockback a channel/charged ability. Kalista Give her the monkey skin she so sorely needs. Katarina Voracity only reduces cooldown of her ultimate, remove ability to script. "Damage has been reduced by 20%, flat. Crit is removed; items give +% total AD instead of crit. Lethality items are nerfed but AD assassins are buffed. Zoe has been deleted. Towers deal % HP damage on top of the (reduced now) flat damage, and dmg scales with game time. All gold is decreased across the board (I like long games)."
