Olaf should use the fury system instead of mana.
It makes more sense for a raging Berzerker
to use fury instead of mana.
Mana seems to conflict with his theme. Why not change it from mana to fury instead and adjust his kit to fit?

Because then axes would have to suck hard.

Nah. A good olaf never runs out of mana anyway.
Then why change to fury.
My honest opinion is that this would be a buff. A champion cannot have stats like olaf does and not have mana as his weakness. He puts out damage, but since he has mana cost he needs to be careful. Unless you take down some ratios, or give him difficult cool downs, then I don't feel like I should support u. Good idea in theory, but maybe not in practice. Good idea tho :3

I think simple adjustments to his kit can be made if a fury system were to be put in place.
It would have to change his axe to a higher cool down, which I'm not sure Olaf players would like. But changes can.... be aranged. Meh

See, that's what I'm talking about :)
shrug Id be up for that. but fury doesnt work as an actual resource like energy.

True. I like the fury system for Tryndamere and Renekton and think it would fit well with Olaf.
i dont play olaf but i think it would be interesting
like, if it was shyvana style fury, he could ult when he had 100 fury, and staying in combat increases the duration of his ult? would make him pretty scary, but hard to ult defensively

Exactly. There is no reason to believe his kit can't be modified/balanced around a fury system.

Just going to say this COULD work, however, I think it should work like energy in a way. It takes fury to use abilities, so he can't just spam undertow (That would be BAD.) PASSIVE REMAINS SAME (Q)Overtow; 30 fury. FIX- Reduces cooldown by 3 seconds, not 4.5. (W) VICIOUS STRIKES- 50/45/40/35/30 fury E NOW COSTS FURY AS WELL AS HEALTH 40/30/20/10/0 fury SAME HEALTH COST And when you ult, you gain 50%/75%/100% of your rage as bonus AD. Would give him a still very AA attack dependant gamestyle :) ADDITIONALLY the MR/Armor bonus could be scaling with fury as well, such as 15%/ 25%/40% of current fury. Good?

Indeed! Other fury champions fury system is unique to the champion. For example: Renekton gets bonus effects on abilities, Rek'Sai can regen health at expense of fury along with true damage E, Tryndamere gains crit chance.
Olaf can have his own fury system as well such as your suggestions. It opens up doors to make a better but not overpowered Olaf with an appropriate theme.
He should do insane damage when he gets mad.
Complicated Reasons. Champs use mana even when it doesn't fit with their theme for balance reasons and solely that. Otherwise, why would Darius need mana?

Because Darius's theme is not focused on rage. Sion is excused because he is a creation of magic.
Well, doesn't that mean since he's made from magic, he needs mana to sustain himself? Food for thought :3
Hes got a point if olaf did not have mana he would be too strong with infinate axe spam and sustain.

It's reasonable to think his Q can be adjusted. The cooldown on his Q can be longer so he would have to land his axe to be rewarded. If he misses then he has to wait and there opens up a window for counterplay.
I think implementing a fury sytem for Olaf is very doable.
Many champions use mana without it fitting into it's theme. Primarily because Mana is simply the tried and tested way of limiting champion abilities.
Really you should look to mechanics. What mechanics does Furry have that would make it more appropriate than mana? Mana is generally a long term limiter. Allows you to spam abilities for a while, but you will eventually run out. And yet you can always itemize for mana, but at the cost of taking other items.
Rage on the other hand, creates an interaction where the champion is at it's most powerful, the longer he has been in combat. This resource it harder to itemize for, but does often involve AS since it's often based on a champions Auto attack. Tryndamire also gets scaling rage with crit chance, and Rek'sai, arguably with CDR since her Q stacks rage very quickly.
But in Olaf's case, would that really work? Well he's a much hardier Juggernaut, meaning he could certainly survive the extended fight where the Rage stacking shines. But that could very well make him an abuse case of the mechanic. Also this mechanic means that he's only best when fighting something, which could very well limit his play patterns. (more so than mana does)

I see what you're saying, but any changes could be made to his kit to fit a fury system. He is only useful when he lands axes, so that's a limited play pattern to begin with.
More or less I'm suggesting a rework. I think he deserves to be on that list.
It wouldn't really be difficult. It would fit his berzerker theme much better than using mana. It's like if Tryndamere used mana instead of a fury system, or Renekton using mana.
