When he was released he had a bunch of other shit but it got removed. Attack speed from cooldown reduction, knockup and shield on E, extra damage on Q for more soldiers, etc but for some reason despite having all of these things removed Azir somehow became a strong as fuck champion? Can someone else how this happened?

he was fucked with a ton of bugs until at least january where it was already preseason 5
once they got the bugs out for the most part, pros started picking him up and realizing how much of a powerhouse he was

the shurima shuffle was discovered at some point that season but before it was made easier to do it was actually pretty difficult to play and use like it is now. so nobody brought him into LCS because they felt they weren't ready to bust him out.
eventually once people got use to the shuffle and his playmaking ability he became the top tier pick he is now.

Jbels5 votesHe also had a shit ton of bugs holding him back. He was overloaded, but due to the nature of his rushed release, he came out too bugged for it to matter. After the bugs went away he bcame overpowered as fuck, and so he lost all of the things that were making him okay at best when he had thse bugs to deal with.One bug though they made an official part of his kit because people threw a hissy fit when they went to remove it, and that's the Shurima shuffle. Without it, Azir would never be able to make the massive plays he does right now in LCS. Couple that with the fact that he is a lane bully that transforms into a late game hyper scaler and you've got one overcooked chicken
