New Player: 1st placement match in Gold 2 MMR ???

How is this fair for the rest of the team to get a player whose 1st placement match in ranked was at Gold 2 MMR ? Needless to say, as support who can play at Plat level had to support absolutely terrible player. It infuriated me because of adc, it infuriated adc because I had to farm wasted creep.

Somebody justify, how it is expected for players to keep cool and not flame when RIOT drops clue-less players in the same team ? Dude end up 0/7 40cs.
