Do you have to animation cancel to be decent at riven?

as the title says to do well in silver gold-ish Elo do you have to be able to do rivens fast combo? I enjoy playing her but I am just absolute dogshit at her, I have some of her more simple animation cancels down, but I can't seem to ever win lane, if I do the other person is truly terrible. I am just curious if the animation cancel (the one box-box likes to show off where you click behind you mid Q) is detrimental to being successful in lower elo's, because I find myself screwing myself every time I attempt it. Also if anyone is just wanting to, feel free to post some laning advice with her. Thanks in advance

In lower elo anything can work, so no it's not too detrimental. That said, know that Riot balances Riven around being able to animation cancel, so not being able to do that would be somewhat comparable to not being able to land a certain skillshot on another Champion.

Sure, you don't need to be able to aaQ combo in order to be decent in silver/gold.

With that being said you are absolutely handicapping yourself. In my opinion it really doesn't make sense to have Riven as one of your "side champions", I'd recommend to OTP her and actually learn her. If you don't feel like doing that I think you should probably just play her in normals.

On champions like riven and adc, I find it useful to bind your attack move button to a key on your keyboard "like space". This way you have your left hand controlling all the commands and right hand controlling the location of the mouse. It makes it easier to press the commands in the right sequence and right timing.

Knowing how to fast combo is pretty much essential for winning duels against all but the shittiest of duelists, and all but the shittiest of tanks.

Knowing how to W+E means Garen won't fuck you over. If you can't do that, Garen will fuck you over. Same with Jax, and maybe a few others (and it's just cool for trading in general), but Garen's the biggest example.

If you can't E+R (which you can, literally just press R during E) you will never get a successful assassination off unless your target is both squishy, immobile, without flash, and SEVERELY mispositioned. You will also have a much harder time getting kills in lane unless your opponent is incredibly immobile. Hell, you'll have a hard time doing anything with your ult unless you pop it in the middle of a teamfight.

You pretty much need animation canceling to do any of the assassination combos, so if you don't know them, then stick to being AoE CC in teamfights and stick to splitpushing. Also do not use the Lethality assassin build. Stick with lifesteal bruiser.

Also the backflip thing is entirely aestetic and does nothing.
