Why is it considered a tank meta?

Griefer··1 votes·800 views

I understand that the release of cinderhulk greatly increased the the viability of tank junglers, but since then cinderhulk has been nerfed and people are slowly realizing it was overhyped.

Top carry/snowball champs are still viable aswell.

So why is it considered tank meta?

It isnt the tank meta atm, Smite lanes meta (Devourer adc, cinderhulk top, rune glaive mid)

I've yet to see a Devourer ADC (unless you count the Vayne jungle that chunked our 500 armor Malphite for nearly a third of his health with 2 auto attacks............................).

a short meta considering it only shined when cinderhulk wasn't nerfed.

Its because Tanks became relevant again, which pushed the Assassin meta out the window. I think its the people who enjoyed the previous meta that coined the term, as in reality all its done is forced Assassins to actually apply strategy to whom they target and when. The added difficulty for assassins has also made other immobile champions like ashe and veigar playable, as they can do get the necessary peel required to survive more than a single heartbeat.

How did tank meta even began?

How did tank meta even began?

they cinderhulk and buffed / changed some items and everyone was like HOLY CRAP ITS A TANKY TEM THATS ACTUALLY GOOD ITS A TANK META

Griefer1 votes

from what ive concluded: cinderhulk removed dfg nerfed assassins buffed SOME tanks

and then people come to the realization that tanks are good now. they were always good!?!?

what if i told you there is no meta. Unless they nerf tanks items to smitherines tanks will always remain relevant as far as team comp is concerned. You need that front line.

there shouldnt be a meta just good team comps tbh. if you can pull off going full damage team comp its really risky. an all bruisers team comp is okay/safer but can't rely on a carry to turn the tide if you need to.

if a shyvana goes devourer and is pretty much building near full tank she's most likely bruiser off tank which is close. Same with say maokai jungle with just runeglaive the rest tank. just because they have 1 or 2 dps items doesn't mean they aren't fulfilling a key role.

Eh.

Mid and bot lane are still dominated by the squishy carries (Cho didn't really dominate all that much, and if you don't build defenses on him he's just an AP bruiser, not a full tank).

If you need a tank just as much as you need a ranged adc carry, I don't see a problem with it. What's wrong with tanks being necessary, equally so to the carries?

Hardly a tank meta for me. Two durable champions, two carries, and one support that can be either tanky or squishy. That's a balanced team comp in my opinion.

it doesnt FEEL like a tank meta, but adcs like graves is definitely in a weaker spot.

I think the recent nerf (or was it that recent?) hit him more than the current meta.

But Graves isn't completely forgotten. He serves has an excellent counter to anti-tank hypercarries, like Vayne/Jinx/Kog'Maw (mostly Vayne and Kog'Maw, tho). He was stronger in the previous meta, able to survive more damage thanks to his tank-ish passive.

But unfortunately, not every adc can be strong in every meta. Lucian, Ezreal, and Corki has their time, for instance. I'm pretty sure the meta is going to shift sooner or later and Vayne/Kog'Maw are going to fall in popularity. And Jinx will probably need nerfs eventually, as hard as it is for me to admit.

i dont get it. dfg gets removed, cinderhulk is added and everyone comes to the conclusion MUST PLAY TANKS

not that i have a problem with the tank meta because it actually balances the game quite well like you said, but assassins actually are more important to get rid if the carries. without the carries, the tanks are just stranded doing like 15ap (or is it ad?) with their cinderhulk.

Eh Graves is decent but he's first and foremost a squishy killer. You don't see him much in competitive play anymore because unless you are really fed he has a tendency to fall off late game.

and the fact that he cant burst tanks ;-;

The tankiest part of the Tank Meta is when both Top lane Tanks and Jungle tanks were both strong. Creating a double frontline.

Realistically, their wouldn't be any kind of meta if Riot is pursuing their goals for strategic Diversity. And that seems to be happening considering anything from mages, to AD poke, to Assassin are being picked up mid. And all sorts of top laners are available as well.
