What is MSI Trials 2019?

MSI Trials is an in-client event running concurrently with the 2019 Mid Season Invitational 2019 League of Legends esports event. The event for the North American region runs from May 2, 2019 at 1:00PM PST until June 2, 2019 at 11:59PM PST.

Earning Tokens

As with a number of prestige events in the past, tokens are earned primarily through playing matchmade PVP games. Here are the details that have been made available so far:

No Pass Needed: (Max 300 Tokens possible)

  • Missions:
    • Welcome to MSI [Matchmade PvP only]: MSI 2019 Orb
      • Earn 250,000 Gold
      • AND Get 350 Takedowns
    • Watch and Learn 1: 150 Blue Essence
      • Watch 2 MSI Games
    • Week 1 Missions: (Max 75 Tokens possible)
      • Meet The Warband [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game playing as, with, or against Katarina, Draven, Darius, Zed, or Vayne
        • OR Win 2 games with at least 6 takedowns
      • Meet The Council [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game playing as, with, or against Jayce, Ryze, Azir, Aurelion Sol, or Swain
        • OR Win 2 games in under 35 minutes each
      • Meet The United [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game playing as, with, or against Lux, Braum, Galio, Kayle, or Soraka
        • OR Help your team take down 8 towers
      • Meet The Faceless [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game playing as, with, or against Ezreal, Bard, Leblanc, Singed, or Shaco
        • OR Get 30 takedowns
      • Practice Together [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game in a premade group of 2 or more players
        • OR Win 2 games
    • Week 2 Missions: (Max 75 Tokens possible)
      • Trials - Challenge 1 [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game where you killed 2 or more dragons as a team
        • OR Win 3 games
      • Trials - Challenge 2 [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game where you dealt more than 30,000 damage to champions
        • OR Get 30 takedowns
      • Trials - Challenge 3 [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game where you healed more than 7500 health (includes self)
        • OR Spend 30,000 gold
      • Trials - Challenge 4 [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Destroy the First Tower as a team
        • OR Help your team take down 8 towers
      • Trials - Continue Week 1 Together [Matchmade only]: 15 Trials 2019 Tokens
        • Win a game in a premade group of 2 or more players
        • OR Win 3 games
      • Fight For Your House (repeating) [Matchmade PvP only]: 100 XP per game
        • Win 1 SR Game
        • OR Win 2 ARAM Games
    • Week 3 Missions: TBA
    • Week 4 Missions: TBA

With the MSI 2019 Trials Pass:

  • Win 1 game OR Play 3 games [resets after 20 hours, Matchmade only]: 18 tokens
  • Play a Matchmade PvP game:
    • Win a Summoner's Rift match: 12 tokens
    • Lose a Summoner's Rift match: 6 tokens
    • Win an ARAM match: 8 tokens
    • Lose an ARAM match: 4 tokens
    • Twisted Treeline wins/losses do not award any tokens for the purposes of this mission

MSI 2019 Trials Pass

The MSI 2019 Trials pass includes:

  • 4 MSI 2019 Orbs
  • 200 Trials 2019 Tokens
  • Exclusive Trials 2019 Icon
  • Exclusive Milestone Missions awarding up to 25 Prestige Points
    • Trials 2019 Pass Milestone (5x) [Matchmade only]: 5 Prestige Points each milestone
      • Score 40 Points | Win = 5 points, Loss = 2 points
  • Enables earning Trials Tokens per match until June 2

The pass will be available in the store for 1650RP (~$12 USD equivalent).

MSI 2019 Orbs

Open to reveal a guaranteed random Skin Shard with a chance to obtain bonuses like an unowned esports skin permanent, Gemstone, or Mythic Skin permanent. Gemstone and Mythic Skin permanent drop rates multiplied by 1.5 with three chances for each type of drop.

Well, looks like Twisted Treeline players get shafted. You can't even earn tokens for playing ranked 3v3 games, but you can get them for playing ARAM. Wow, Rito. Wow.

"The mode just hasn't been very popular. But that has nothing to with us not doing anything to support it."

Yeah, so I just forged the "Worthy Adversary"-emote...first I got a "crafting timed out"-error. Then I found the emote permanent to redeem...but actually redeeming it gave me a "redeem error"-message.

On 3rd attempt of redeeming it, the emote permanent disappeared, and is not in the emote collection or in the Hextech loot. The 75 tokens were taken away from me the moment I first tried to craft the emote.

What the hell is going on? I thought one of reasons to make the new client was to lessen the possibility of errors occuring the first place!

No, I'm no restarting the client to see if that solves anything. The client should be better programmed than that. Restarting the client was that solved most issues IN THE OLD CLIENT!

Time and time again they praised and promised how the new client would be SO much better and more stable and wonderful and cake and unicorns...

This is such a garbage event. I have already finished all the quests and since i dont plan on buying the pass, there is nothing i can really do with my tokens that i got from the miniscule amount of quests available. This is so much worse then every other event that they have done in the past. The whole theme of it was so cool too and they failed to excecute on it.

thx for the info, a bit sad only US citizen can enter msi chair giveaway contest, happy the token per match seems fair enough compared to other passes

bit disapointed we can redeem 100PP only once especially since getting that high amount of tokens is very unlikely, but getting those skins this way make them feel like a real reward for the grind

if it was me id give TT and vs ai players at least 1 token per match(maybe 2 in TT if win) so wtvr people wanna play they can still play even if the payout is significantly less

wish me luck on getting 100 PP and prestige lux skin without missing out to much on real life stuff!

it would also be nice to know if the milestone missions give maximum 25 PP each time OR they give a max of 25 PP over the year, this is really confusing and very important to know!

Not being able to earn tokens playing Twisted Treeline is stupid. Why even have the game mode then? Past events you could earn tokens on 3v3, why not this event? If it's because of "bots" there would probably be more people playing 3v3 than ever if you were allowed to earn tokens playing it. An incentive achieves a reward.

It's pretty sad that the prestige points cost 2200 and the skin 2000 I calculated it out and If you buy the pass and get your daily 18 points with 12 points as win thays 30. Now Buying the pass gives 200 and max points without pass are 300. that means -500. So you have to win games to get 1500 points. Here comes the funny part, 30+12x5 is 90 points if you win 6 games per day. One game is usually around 25-30 mins long but you also have to win right? Otherwise you get 6 only. Now if you play 6 games everyday in a row which is 5 hours of your day then by 10 days you'll get 900 tokens. But that if you didn't lose any games. And you still didn't get to 1000 tokens. It would take up to 17 days and 6 wins daily to get 1500 tokens. So no normal person can get the prestige skin only of they use money. Even I feel sad from this because I don't have this much time I have school amd I'd love to own the Lux skin. But I can't. And I'm not even allowed to have someone play in my place because Riot would ban me for account sharing. This just sucks alot.

Wait so the tokens from the MSI and the Battle Academia will be the same and the max you can get from missions is 300? Or the BA skins will have other mission line and will bring more points?
