Probably an unpopular opinion: Darius needed a buff but damage was the worst buff he coulda got

What's the deal with Darius? Well, his weaknesses are that late game he gets kited, and he gets permastunned and he dies because he can't get any stacks off. So why buff his damage? He's already one of the most oppressive melee champs up Top. If you are a melee besides Yorick in top, you will get destroyed. Going for a single CS causes you to straight up lose a chunk of your HP and then you'll bleed out another chunk after. Even if you call for a gank he can probably 1v2 if he gets lucky. The issue with Darius isn't that he lacks damage, it's that he lacks time/survivability late game to get his might and then his damage combo. The buff he needs is survivability late game. So a health buff of any kind, an armor/magic resist buff, maybe a speed buff, or heck even some passive tenacity would help him. More damage does not help him late game and he cannot team fight because of his lack of health. A truly good Darius change would be a damage nerf and survivability buff, but we all know that is forbidden by Riot.

why didnt they just buff the heal on his q back to 15% per target?

seems to me like even hitting 3 people with it is usually not enough to stay in the fight.

it's not an unpopular opinion

everyone knows that high elo players have no problems kiting that joke of a champion that Darius is 24 sec cd on his E when every other fighter has lower cooldown for similar spells Renekton counters kiting with E and it has 18 sec cd

But riot is FUCKING INCOMPETENT, what can I say more? "oh we think he doesn't do damage!!!! pro players look at this!!! we gave him more damage play him now make big plays!!!"

Because "more damage" or "less damage" is the only thing that monkey balance team is able to do

Tbh the E pen should have been nerfed and w/q/passive get higher ratios, to promote Cleaver over Triforce.

Buffing an early-game champ for late game potential is somewhat of a bad idea. I don’t think he needs any buffs right now, but if there were going to be any, buffs to his early game are ideal. He is an early game champ that, if he dominates his lane, he could be a raid boss for mid game around the 25 minute mark. If the enemy team stalls and scales past 35 minutes they will outscale him (depending on the champions)

The counter to your argument of course, is that many late game champs have strong early games these days and are pretty much guaranteed to be relevant at all stages of the game. AKA, fiora, tryn, jax, irelia. (Ok irelia is meant to be mid game, but she still stomps most early and late game scaling opponents in lane).
