Why is Illaoi allowed?

She dominates low elos. She has a bit too much damage for someone so tanky. Shes borderline impossible to lane against-- she takes no damage and takes away a fifth of your health with her q, and can instakill you with her full combo. And if you somehow get her low, she heals up all her health from her q passive. I don't see that as a healthy champion.

Aren't most champions that come out broken or "OP" at their release?

The main unhealthy thing about her is that she's too feast or famine. Either she gets ahead and is entirely unkillable because lol damage and lots of healing, or she falls behind (pre-6 ganks are my favored method, she can't handle ganks without her ult) and can't duel for shit.

If I had to guess the way they should go, I'd say heavily nerf her ult cooldown (shit's up even more often than Nasus' and gives her the old Riven problem) and give her W more base damage so she isn't totally reliant on tentacles.

Umm, are we talking about the same Illaoi that has the 43% win rate? I think you should have took the few minutes it took you to post and googled how to play against her instead. It's not that hard.

Do you just close your eyes and pretend she's garen? she has a pretty defined play pattern you can play around.
