Will post this again until Riot fixes their damn game...

First pick is literally boned. It used to be the nest, because you got final say on the bans and your choice of champion. You could try and ban your hard counters, call whatever position you were best in, and try and trade. But now with the new champ select, everyone gets a role they want without having to worry about being left with a role they can't fill. Bans are spread out which is great, but they are spread over the last three picks. First and second pick now have to blind pick with no control over who they are up against. No chance to ban hard counters, no chance to try and make a lane that is semi playable. All they can do is hope their team communicates (which good luck doing that, the amount of people who respond in champion select has dropped significantly in my games) and can use a ban for them.

The payoff is they can pick whoever they want (op champs that made it through ban and whatnot) but yes, they must be prepared to face off against anyone.

In addition, I think you are overreacting a little because 1) people don't really counterpick often (especially below high diamond elo) and 2) people don't always know how to play the counterpick to your champ

Last 3 picks should allways ban hard counters to first 3 picks. That's how it's supposed to work.

they also get first pick of the most broken champs and there's no incentive to ban what they intend to play.

So now instead of first pick having every advantage imaginable and everyone else has to play positions they don't want with no control over bans and a high chance of the enemy picking their champ first, first and second pick have some advantages and the rest of the team have other advantages.

Even if first pick isn't "best" anymore, all the picks being kinda balanced and sorta good is better than 1st and 2nd getting everything while the rest of the team just hates life.
