Looking for Wardens - Volunteer Moderation

Hello!

With Wardens being tested in General Discussion and doing well, we are looking to expand to the rest of Boards. We are looking for Wardens dedicated to specific sub-boards or roamers. The list is below and you will be able to select through the application.

  • Gameplay
  • Memes & Games
  • Story, Art, & Sound / Concepts & Creations
  • Roleplay
  • Roaming Wardens (looks over several of the smaller sub-boards)

The deadline for applications will be at the end of 6/5/2017 and continuing with phase 2 which will include a short voice or chat roundtable interview. We will be selecting qualified candidates who possess all or most of the following attributes we are looking for.

Warden Application

Qualifications

  • History of frequent engagement and currently active in sub-board selected or Boards in general (roaming)
  • Does not have an excessive history of breaking the Universal Rules or in-game punishments
  • Open to taking constructive direction in moderation and working collaboratively with Riot
  • Thick-skinned and the ability to detach personal feelings from moderation activities (stay calm and diplomatic in any situation)

Warden Privileges

  • Name color, Warden title, and icon on the Boards http://i.imgur.com/Gc8fJmj.png
  • Visibility to reported content
  • Delete discussion and comments
  • Disable commenting in a discussion
  • Pin a comment
  • Sticky discussions

Warden Expectations

  • Be active in the community and facilitate discussions
  • Keeping the sub-board clean per Universal Rules
  • Be fair and distance from favoritism
  • Escalate discussions or comments as needed to Riot
  • Be the voice of the community and share those concerns to Riot

Can Wardens function with just a phone? And does the position remove them from regular engagement in board discussions.

Most moderation and posting functions can be done via mobile device, but using a desktop device will definitely streamline a lot of these processes.

Being part of the volunteer program requires a bit more deliberation on the volunteers' part. Volunteers are still given a lot of freedom in what they can post, but with visible colors and tags, they become representatives of the community and are expected to act accordingly.

I honestly recommend Ralanr for Warden. I don't know him personally, but he's on the boards a lot, has the patience of a rock, and always has something good to contribute to the conversation. Plus, he's a fellow Sion main, so you know he's rock solid (sorry Malphite mains, I'm taking your quote)

If you can pass the application and interview process, you have every right to volunteer. There are people well into adulthood that we'd never consider because of how immature they are, and there are already people in the volunteer program under 20 who set high standards and we are proud to work with.

You're supposed to be 13 to use Riot services, but it's not like we're asking for driver's licenses.

If I will not have access to my computer on the 5th because of personal reasons, what is the amount of time that I would have to respond to the message if I were accepted? Also is it possible to edit my application as I picked a secondary Arbiter position that I would like to do?

The application process closes on the 5th, but we won't start the interviews immediately, and that will take a while to complete; you'll have a fairly wide window to get slotted in for yours if you make it, and you can coordinate that with Keyru if you are emailed to set it up.

Concerning editing your application, if you have any changes you'd like to make you can let myself or Wuks know. If it's private you can reach out to us on the Moderation Discord.

What's the difference between Arbiters and Wardens? Arbiters have something to do with Halo, and Wardens are chasing after the Marauders and destroying everything in the process? I do play more Warden champs than Marauders...

Arbiters are responsible for the Player Behavior and Boards Community & Moderation sub-boards specifically, but we also lead the Volunteer program as a whole. I foresee some of the Wardens stepping up to contribute the same in the future :P

I am more interested in helping players then moderating, but if you guys have not received an adequate number of applications let me know and I will step up to help out. I want to express a small fear that I don't qualify due to my common breach in Board Etiquette by not mentioning Teemo as often as is possible. Cool program thou, good luck yall.

We definitely have a lot of applications, but that doesn't mean the best people for the job have sent one in yet; if you're interested, submit it!

While we do need moderators, if you're interested in helping the community you can still do that without having a fancy title or mod privileges. Just interact with the players on the boards and give assistance where you feel you can do so!

Just submitted my application! Thank you for opening this program up. Also, considering how Wardens get boards-related privileges, how much input is coming from Riot on this? Who will be vetting these applications and surveying moderators after approval? Is there already a system in place for players to report Wardens who abuse their powers or otherwise do not honor their responsibilities?

Keyru (Rioter that runs the Volunteer Program and semi-owns the Boards) is managing this and doing most of the work, but the Arbiters and current Wardens will be helping out; it's a pretty big job, so we'll be assisting with recommending applications and sitting in on interviews.

To be clear, Keyru approves everything and makes all final decisions.

Is there already a system in place for players to report Wardens

Yes. It'll definitely be a bumpy ride at first so please be patient with them, but a major factor in our considerations will be bias and professionalism; We may be volunteers, but the standards are high and abuse will not be tolerated. If you ever have an issue with any moderation please visit us in the Moderation Discord where you can speak privately and freely so that we can address the issue. Visibility in our actions is a major point in the program.
