Has riot even given an answer over how to handle afks in ranked?
It feels as if this issue is not even a concern anymore.

what are you talking about? They made Remake for afks specifically
I think the op means people who afk after the remake time limit.
They could make those individuals lose double the LP and make their team lose half of it, in solo q at least. Something along those lines. In order to make this not exploitable by smurfs they could also bar people from queuing ranked for several days after afking.
What are they going to do? Bind people to their chairs and make them play
DDOS is EXTREMELY rare in league. That's not a viable example, especially for any rank below the top 1%.
And yes, but the team would still lose LP, and their ally would receive a double loss on top of a several day ban. I feel like this would deter most people out of pure selfishness.
It was just a suggestion anyways, obviously I'm no game designer.
If they make the remake option available the whole match there would be almost nothing stopping duos from afking one person to save the other's LP
Yeah it's not about those two doing anything. It's about one of those two boosting the other one
