Boy, Ekko needs a hot fix.

Fadedpf··80 votes·5,384 views

I don't think I can last until next patch. This champion has so many problems. Lets just start with his insane shield and ult ratio. Like seriously anything with a 1 to 1 ratio is strong. But 130%? Release Reksai building full damage and destroying was frustrating but this Kid can get bot lane doubles and turn around fights with his eyes closed.

AFAIK LeBlanc wasn't considered OP until a little bit before her mini-rework. Care to enlighten me?

When she was released, she got hotfixed mainly for her mana costs (because the pre-CertainlyT days had standards for this).

Her base damage got tweaked a bit as well, but if I remember correctly, it wasn't that much.

jDVL20eCYs1 votes

no on release she had her q damage not split 50/50 but 70/30 and it also and longer cast range. which meant her w q poke and w q r was just insane. her laning was beyond broken November 4, 2010 Hotfix:

Stats Mana per level reduced to 50 from 56. Armor per level reduced to 3 from 3.5. Sigil of Malice.png Sigil of Silence Initial base damage reduced to 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 from 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260. Cast range reduced to 700 from 750. Mana cost increased to 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 from 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80. Distortion.png Distortion Base damage reduced to 85 / 125 / 165 / 205 / 245 from 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 / 250. (The tooltip was incorrectly stating 20 / 35 / 50%).

LeBlanc had to be hotfixed almost immediately upon release because she could pentakill your team with her eyes closed.

Release Xin Zhao was much the same way, he could essentially 1v5.

While I do agree he needs a nerf. I don't think nerfing his ult is the right approach if he uses his ult for damage he wastes his only safe means of escape. You can also see where his ults gonna land making it predictable and so counterable. It also takes a bit of setting up so it's not easy to land. His W shield I am not quite sure of it's really strong but It does not seem op, But I don't know. The right approach would probably be to nerf the duration of his passive slow and speed, possibly also nerf the power. It's really a strong hidden power that people don't really notice because you just look at his absurd ult scaling while his passive just lies there and dealing a lot of damage.

Fadedpf6 votes

Ulting grants hp, mobility, insane aoe damage, and a set up for your op 2 second aoe stun. If you don't think his ult is powerful and is fine you're crazy. Sure you can mess up and SOMETIMES not be able to escape for whatever reason. But Ekko is becoming the jack of all trades. Insane turn around, damage, cc, you name it. Sure you can "see his clone" but it wont stop everyone from chasing him or someone else that is low. Everything but his Q has problems. This is what you expect from a "utility assassin" something that should never even be on the table for even 1 second. This is all my opinion but I would be shocked if we did not get something nerfed soon.

Ketchup256 votes

I think people don't put enough value into counterplay each and everone of his abilities has counterplay exept his e, which is completely ok because it is an escape. His q deals minimum damage if you only get hit by the first one, his w has a clear cast time if you have vision and is easily dodged. His Ult has significant counterplay, because if he uses it for damage he is leaving himself open to be killed easily and you can predict where it's coming. He has a healthy kit with clear strenghts and clear weaknesses. But he is overtuned and should be nerfed. I just don't think nerfing his ult will make him balanced just rather clunky.

dr lichdeath1 votes

well they should at least nerf the dmg part 500 base dmg +1.3ap = 2000dmg when full ap works good toothere isnt much tactic either u stand still wait till enemy team groups and comes at u u run leave a w behind where u wer and wait till they come at the spot u get 2000 dmg u have a shield theyre stunned u kill the squishys with ur q and e and anyone else left gets killed by the team

Father Cthulhu1 votes

His ult is easy to avoid, though. You see the clone from his past? Better get out of the way.

dr lichdeath2 votes

u cant see it if u have no vision of ekko he might be just a bit further ahead in the fog of war and then bam ulted and ur dead cuz his ult deals 2k dmg basicly enough to kill any squishy

Lucian Shot 2pac3 votes

I disagree, MOBAs in general are made so that you capitalize on your opponents mistakes, and you gain advantages. But Ekko fucks all of that. He has an 'oops' button that just annoys the hell out of everyone. Not gonna play this game until next patch

Ketchup254 votes

There are many more champions then ekko who has an ultimate that almost guarantees safety. Just to name a fewMalphite Kassadin Ahri so this is not a new thing.

Dragonface4 votes

But those champions have to make a choice, escape, or engage. They can't do both. Ekko can jump in on you with Phase Dive, and if things get rough, just ult away.

Fadedpf1 votes

Exactly. Have you seen these Ekko jungles running around? Basically just as viable as mid Ekko, saw one dash over drag wall to try and steal it, failed then tried fighting a squishy to make up for it but got collapsed on and was forced to ult. Essentially undoing everything that happened.

Ekko "Not my fault you can't time travel."

Partholonian4 votes

So... he failed to get the objective, failed to kill anyone, and blew his ult as an escape, so it did 0 damage. This proves he's OP?

Did you have wards behind the wall to see him on his way in? It's a standard precaution for dealing with junglers who can dash through walls.

ULTRAF0RCE4 votes

Kassadin can do both relatively soon after one another and ahri has three dashes meaning she could go in , go back to starting position and escape further

Reazale2 votes

And what time does it take kass to do that at lvl 6? lvl 11? and lvl 16? whit the cdr he has. How much Mana does is cost him to do so? Does he become untargetable? Does he do more dmg?

His passive is definately the issue, it does a ton of damage and slows for some unknown reason so that you know you can't escape him. Which is silly since he has a dash/blink anyway and a skillshot slow.

his only means of safety? he has a slow stun and dash to fall back on.

Ketchup251 votes

Not his only means but the only safe one. His W needs some good planning to predict your opponets movement, to land it so you both get a shield and a stun. And his dash is just 300 range which is next to nothing and can be easily followed up by unless you lack some kind of mobility.

A Miss Fortune6 votes

People are comparing Ekko to release-Zyra.

60+% winrate, whenever she ult'ed it was basically a pentakill. She was so overpowered that Riot had to fix her two days later, far before they wanted to release the next patch.

Akesgeroth6 votes

If you think his shield is a problem, you're an idiot. When he casts it there is a THREE SECONDS period before he can even activate it.

Again, this is Darius all over again.

Partholonian7 votes

And a "big" shield won't do jack without resists, anyway. Support shields can be thrown on an actual frontliner, but Ekko's shield can only ever be thrown on Ekko, who is probably building near 0 resists and taking true damage from everything.

It's the same as Riven -- the shield looks big until something actually hits it and then you're like "where did that shield go?".

l3ZU1t25jZ2 votes

The problem is he gets a shield and a 2.25 sec aoe stun at the same time from the same ability.

DrNova1 votes

Assuming an enemy was in the exact spot he cast the skill, three seconds after he cast it.

Try again.

ElementM1 votes

Except the fact the enemy can't see where it will land until they have .5 seconds to react before they get stunned.

Try again.

SlushieDee1 votes

Except it's not the "exact spot".

I think what you meant to say there was "huge-ass area"

Im not saying Ekko is bad, but I seriously feel the need to ask why champions get released in such piss poor states. Don't they test these champions out on a test server before they release them live? Don't they play test them in house before even letting the beta testers have a crack at them? Im really confused how they can let a champion get to live servers with huge balance problems with what I hope is all the testing they do to them before hand.

Partholonian1 votes

{quoted}

Because it's not the champion that is in a piss poor state. It is players' ability to know what the hell to do when they are fighting them. And that can't possibly be anything other than "no clue" at release.

Aside from Bard, that is. He has the opposite problem -- it's his teammates that don't know what to do with him on their team and it made him worthless (arguably still does).

Vik4prez1 votes

Well I wasn't speaking specifically of Ekko, but champions in general. As far as im aware, most of the new champions they release end up having changes made to their values/kits a short time after because there are balance issues to iron out.

I just find it strange that they don't figure this out during the extensive testing that goes into each champion. Do they just ignore the input from players on the PTR or something? It just seems really strange.

TNHA Baritone3 votes

I feel like Ekko's creation was rushed even though it took 8 months. Some champions are perfectly fine like Lux, Twisted Fate, and Amumu. Some champions seem a bit stronger than others like LeBlanc, Katarina, and Yi. Some champions feel a lot less developed than others like Evelynn Poppy and Taric(shade thrown). I just feel like Ekko falls a different spot. He isn't like Katarina where his damage is absurd but his kit isn't as bad. Both his kit and damage is absurd. There is no need for him to possess that much utility and damage. He doesn't even need a support to peel for him. He can do it himself. I think Riot should mini rework him before this gets out of hand. He also should be disabled in ranked. It is clear that he isn't balenced.

KidKaiser3 votes

dont forget to mention the ZERO COST ULTI. that's just a piece more cherries on top of cherries that's standing on tip of a Sundae Everest

OhthePiplup3 votes

Kayles ult has no cost. Dont see you complaining about that

Xander7563 votes

Ekko is definitely hot fix bad. I will not play against him anymore. AFK any game I'm matched against him. It's just not fun. Riot needs to stop making champions that teleport. Teleporting is too strong. Flash is already broken enough. If anything stuff like flash should be taken out of the game, not added more often.

The Best Ashe3 votes

Ekko can dodge damage with: First part of E Second part of E Shield Invulnerability during ult TP to clone from ult

Ekko allows people to play recklessly and get away with it simply because they can press R. They know they'll be able to kill someone without even needing that 500 base magic damage with 1.3AP ratio AOE ult with a heal.

Let's think about this for a second, even if Ekko's ult didn't heal him, that amount of damage scaling and utility in itself would have been broken. Let's compare this to Leblanc's ult with distortion which has 450 base magic damage with .9 ap ratio at level 3. Not only does Ekko's ult have a larger AoE, ap ratio, base damage, it also heals him. Oh yes, let's not forget that his ult also costs NO MANA.

Father Cthulhu2 votes

I say keep his ult, and reduce his stun's duration and the shield strength.

lolipopevelynn2 votes

its only his passive that is overtuned right now. his ult is fine because of how situational it is. simply dont stand on top of it.

his passive hits harder than an annie Q and everything procs it.

the base amount on his shield can be lowered a tad, but dont touch his ratios. rivens shield is allowed to exist as it is and it takes literally no skill to use. considering that i dont see a problem with ekkos shield since it takes skill to use properly.

Acadiaum2 votes

As a guy who played Ekko almost every game on PBE, he has a lot of counter play. You have to fall for his tricks for him to land his Ultimate, Everything needs to be timed.

If you catch ekko without his Ult he pretty much dies, he's super squishy.

Talon destroys Ekko, he can burst ekko before he can ult away.

What kind of Ekko would die to a Talon? Talon has to press E R W Q before he can kill Ekko and all Ekko needs to do is press R for his free escape and heal back to full.

I can do Talons combo in a second, If he's at full health he has a chance to escape, if he isn't hes going to die before he can react. Even if he gets away Talons ult is up way before his is.

The only time I've felt in danger fighting Ekko is when im on low health since E+Lich+W Passive will kill me.

Any champ that can poke then burst destroys Ekko, super squishy.

The only thing I can agree with is either removing or nerfing the heal.

The reaction to Ekko's release is the funniest I have seen any release be. He is NOT at all that strong, he only has 2 reliable skills. It's literally just a bunch of bronze-gold players crying instead of actually trying to learn.
