Make all Champs Available in ARAM

Why can't they?

Below is a pretty good comment by Minarde which gives a good explanation why making all champs available in ARAM might not work out that well.

My counter to this, though, is that the way they have it setup it makes it too easy for people to make ARAM only accounts; and then they just have to worry about the small set of champs they bought and the free rotation, while anyone else with a normal account has a much larger roster. So some people have a set of champs that they prefer to play, especially on ARAM; shouldn't ARAM be used to try out champs that you wouldn't normally play? That's how I've used it for the longest time and it's the main reason why I've been able to have a more diverse set of champs that I play. I'm a mid main that started with Xerath and didn't really spread out from their, since then I've tried out other mid laners and have even dabbled with top and bottom laners; I wouldn't have even considered that if ARAM didn't have me play as other champs.

As for "investment", I feel that's only for on the Rift or Twisted, ARAM is always random (based off of the champs you own) so then there's no random if people purposely only have a certain set of champs to choose from. If players are investing in champs that they only want to play on ARAM, that does hinder them in the other 2 modes, but they're most likely not going to play those other 2 modes because it's an ARAM only account; as for anyone else (like I said earlier) would be at a disadvantage because their roster would be more based on Rift or Twisted situations and wouldn't necessarily work well on ARAM.

Making all champs available on ARAM just makes sense. ARAM stands for All Random All Mid, except it's not "all" random since it's based off of whatever champs you own. If all champs are available, then it truly would be random for every player participating; people would even still be able to trade and reroll. I know ARAM isn't taken that seriously and it hardly gets any updates (except for the one that's soon to come), but I feel this would be a good quality of life change for the game mode. Because as it stands, there are too many cases where the "random" teams assembled have too much ap or melee or poke or tanks. If something that's supposed to have a low chance of happening is occurring often, then it's not really random, is it?

Anyway, this is just my opinion; I'd love to discuss what other people think, whether they agree or disagree. Also, the comment I featured; I don't think they're wrong. A significant change like this to a game mode that's been around for forever probably would upset some people who like how it is currently. My beef is more that it should have been "true random" from the beginning, not based of off each personal roster. I will admit I play a lot of ARAM, much more than Rift and way more than Twisted, but I don't have an ARAM only account and I don't see the point in making another account just for that purpose. "Oh we're gonna play some ARAM, let me just switch over to my other account real quick"; that just seems like too much of a hassle.

> {quoted} > > Enabling all champs isn't quite so straight-forward. The main issue with that approach is that it muddles the sense of player investment. Normally when you unlock a champ, you invest a bunch of resources to do so, whether time (essence) or money (RP). If all champs are just available, then there's a risk of players feeling less attached to their accounts and either leaving or not investing as much into their accounts. Additionally, there's a significant part of the playerbase, often casuals, who don't want all champs available. Perhaps because of relative champ strength or even personal taste, these players only enjoy playing certain champs. While that idea might not match the spirit of ARAM, that is how the mode has worked since its inception, and those players could rightfully feel frustrated at the change.

Right now there making it so that ARAMs free to play pool will be the last 3 free to play rotations instead of just the current one. That should give you about 1/4 of the champions

For the 10,000th time no.

  1. the A in aram doesnt imply all champions

  2. aram only accounts arent a real issue, dodges are more of a prevailing issue

  3. they already solved the problem on the pbe making this redundant and unneccessary.
