Hear me out, if we get rid of kill gold …

If we get rid of kill gold, it may fix some of the problems in League currently.

  1. Too Snowbally: Your bot lane just got double-killed, the enemy bot will get ahead because they will get plates while your bot is dead, extra cs, while your bot gets less cs in return. If you add kill gold on top, it's way too much of a lead.

  2. More fun solo lane: How many times you are in solo lane, and you have a close fight that you lost, and the lane become unfun because you can long longer have the same close fight after one death.

  3. Less safe in competitive: A lot of competitive games, because of how much one death would set you behind, you see actually very safe games, almost like a stalling soccer match.

  4. Less chase for kill in low elo: someone running away with 10 health, no need to chase him, he is worth no kill gold! The only thing that will get you gold is, you bet, objectives.

Overall, more chance to come back from a kill deficit, less despair from early death from yourself or other teammates, leads to a better game experience.

The primary problem, that teams might focus on objective only until lategame. Why teamfight? You kill enemy, and he gets back in a half minute anyway.

Getting rid of kill-gold is a bad idea, but i wouldn't mind reducing it faster. So you can't get super-ultra fed on one enemy.

My idea would be:

  1. death 300, 2. death 150, 3. death 75, 4+ death 0.

Assist, or kills would not reset instantly, but instead puts one level up. If you are in 0/7, then get an assist, then next death would worth 75.

This will make the game a fucking base race from the start of the game, nothing more, nothing less

The problem is more distribution of kill gold, not that it exists.

The main problem with snowballing is when all of one team's gold is concentrated on a single high damage champion, and that champion is using it to delete the opponent before they have time to react.

If we get rid of kill gold, the game will turn into a farm fest. Everyone stays on their lanes and lasthits minions. Roam? No, its a waste of time, because there is no kill gold even if the roam is successful.

If your double bot got doublekilled, then either

  1. your botlaners are shit, it happens, ok.
  2. enemies are now without summoner spells and most of their hp, so if they stay to get plating, jungler+midlaner can doublekill them
  3. enemy jungler helped them, so our jungler can use this time to counterjungle/gank other lanes/get herald

If you lost a close fight, then even without kill gold you should not try fighting again on same conditions. Try poking a bit before all-in, or wait for your jungler.

Pro players play safe because the rewards for the risks do not outweight the risks themselves. You suggest lowering the rewards and risks at the same time, this won't change much

OMG. It took 3 years for someone else to say the same shit I've been saying!!

Although, in my case, I advocated for the reduction of kill gold, not it's out right removal. I think a 60% reduction would do the trick.
