I don't understand ''how'' Kat is balanced.

In the late game I looked at my ult damage and realized over 3 seconds she deals 2500 magic damage. Is kat literally balanced around whether the other champ has a dash/interrupt or not?

Her other spells do a reasonable amount of damage but that ult hits 3 champs and with Talon's and LB's silence gone I have made player's of both champs quit the game just this week. Certain champs are completely powerless to deal with this. Other champs have 2 or 3 counters. It's just dumb. Somebody grant insight to this.

The counter to Kat is any form of hard cc. If your entire team does not have a single hard cc you almost always were going to lose anyway.

The answer's pretty simple: your ability power would have to be 700 or more to do that much damage (and that is before any magic resistance or any other damage reduction enters the picture). Any character will be scary when that well fed. The good news when you're up against Kat is that she can't CC you or even slow you. You can cut her damage in half simply by walking away from her once she starts spinning. Compare with, for example, Fiddlesticks, whose R would do 3200 damage at 700 AP and he can can still move and chase you while it is active and it can't be interrupted once it's going and he can stop you from getting away by using his Q.

Riot occasionally claims that they like it when games are not decided at champ select.

Then you have Katarina. Hope you brought targeted/aoe stuns. And even if you did, enjoy not being able to use them until Kat goes in.

Things that are unbalanceable and bullshit: -Ward jumping -Resourceless -Resets

Look familiar? ~Uiru

shes high risk, high reward so to say...skill is subjective for a champ like kat

You can

  1. Flash out of ult
  2. Zhonya's
  3. Stun her
  4. KILL HER this is her weakness when ulting. An ADC can just blast her to pieces

Assuming if you got the time to focus in things like this, while JarvanIV Volibear being an annoyance.

Flashing out is not a counter. You can't counter a 1 minute resettable skill with a 6 minute skill. Think before you say something like that.

Shynkle2 votes

Wow, math is hard. 300 seconds=5 minutes.

wolfax1 votes

Yes, it is. Just because you can't flash out of every Kat ult doesn't mean it's not a counter. Think before you say something like that.

Flashing can't be considered a counter. You can say that about literally every single champion in the game. "Having trouble with [insert champ name here], well then flash out of their next ability." Not to mention it has an absurdly long cooldown.

you can just walk out of it.

Short answer: yes.

Slightly longer answer: this is a team game.

Well to get full damage out of her ult, you need to stay in it a long time. Since she has no cc and you can just run out of range in about 1 second, that basically requires some form of combo with your team(or, more likely, just her being fed enough to only need 1 second of the dmg). Also, she's immobile and a somewhat easy target when casting it, since she likely just used her shunpo and won't get it back until someone dies. If you watch how they play and try and get used to when and how they're going to ult it helps, because if you throw the cc out as soon as she ults, that fight is ruined for Kat unless someone else cleans up for her to start resetting.

On the flipside, if you do have a reliable stun or escape(which are getting more and more common) and always save it for the ult, she will basically be unable to ult you under most normal circumstances, which is I think the main reason she doesn't get that much high level use.

You can't just walk out of it. You have to have a dash or cc. And some champions don't. The only item to counter this is an AP item. Some mid champs don't even have cc. For example. talon can't interrupt this skill anymore.

Yeah, you kinda can walk out of it. It has a range of 550; assuming for some reason you were hugging her butt even after she E'd into you, that means the SLOWEST champion (Anivia, 325 movespeed) can leave her ult in 1.69 seconds of walking. If your midlaner does not have cc, they either are going to burst Kat down when she jumps in, use their mobility to escape, or be mordekaiser and spellvamp shit. If you don't have any mobility or cc, then you are a liar or mordekaiser.

Thumbs up for numero uno.

Mordekaiser HUEHUEHUE.

Dashing, flashing, or otherwise leaving the area of effect does work, but to me, the real threat comes from how well her ult synchronizes with magic penetration (Sorceror's Shoes, Void Staff, etc.). If she's fed (which isn't that hard if the Kat knows what they're doing), her kill time is so low that even a dash might not get you out of range fast enough, especially if you don't react right away.

kat will only do that amount of damage if the game drags on or your team feed her kills

so ward a lot, don't stick around if you're a bit low and at risk of being bursted in lane, get ganks on her and just cc her in team fights. if you can shut her down hard enough early on then she won't be able to delete people.

alternatively, you can go on to the league boards and make a QQ post.
