No Kog-fix suggestions this time, just questions!

Before Kog's remake he was being pulled primarily in three directions: long range machine gun, artillery, and tank busting. Obviously Riot decided to focus on the machine gun aspect, but that has left me wondering.

For those who spent any time playing Kog before his remake, what aspect of his play did you enjoy most?

Not which was most powerful, which was most fun to utilize?

I think he needs a 30% speed boost in his void ooze I feel like that's all he needs for a balanced kit

Considering that Riot feels Kog's immobility is core to his identity, this probably wouldn't ever happen. Makes it hard to create a Kog that is both healthy AND balanced, though. Champions who bring only damage to the table have always been difficult to get right because they have so few levers to tweak.

For me I loved 2 things about KOG.

AD machine gun. and AP Artillery.

Sadly Kog can't do any of these now.

They had Kog in a good place after his rework, why the decided to remove the AD Scaling in his W and completely obliterate his identity as an AD marksmen will forever be beyond me.

Seriously, he was in a good place. He was weak and immobile early game, but scaled amazing well into late game while still keeping that immobile weakness. Now that the AD Scaling on his W is gone Kog has no Reason to build AD and thus lacks any power then the other Marksmens have.

AP Kog also not so good, lower AP Rations and crazy high Mana scaling on R (Added with mana regen nerfs) make it virtually impossible to play AP Kog, especially in mid lane where AP Bursts and AD assassins easily obliterate him.

They could honestly fix all this if they just give him back the AD Scaling on W, until then Kog will continue to be where he is now, in a failed rework that made his identity crises even worse.

It really is a puzzling thing, isn't it?

If Riot had just given Kog's W 15 minimum damage and otherwise left it alone, I suspect Koggy would have been fairly solid barring a few tweaks to his reliability.

I would technically consider the changes to Kog's W scaling a nerf to his tank-busting, though. Machine gun = long range and fast attacks. Tank busting = resist shred and %HP damage.

I never considered "machine gun" when I was picking Kog before.

It was always Artillery / Tank buster.

who is the go-to tank buster now days? is it Vayne?

Vayne is filling that niche, yes.

Kog can, sort of, due to his resist shred on Q. But as of his remake his %HP damage has been cut in half, even taking the double attack speed into account.
