Preseason is there to fix the issues in the game, not to add gimmicks.

Remember season 3?

  • Overhaul of the games item system.
  • 11 removed items (including Dodge)
  • 23 reworked items
  • 25 new items
  • Boot Upgrades implemented
  • Shop changed into the format we enjoy today
  • Smart Pings added
  • Surge and Rally removed
  • Reworked Leashing
  • Updated Masteries

There were a few questionable changes, sure, (Nobody liked the League of Black Cleaver, and Teemo has never been the same since Malady was removed) but Riot did an effective job at overhauling their item shop, laying the groundwork for everything that followed.

How about season 4?

  • Heal reworked, now the staple summoner spell for ADC's over barrier
  • Trinkets added
  • Permanent, visible pink wards.
  • Support Item overhaul
  • Updated Masteries... again
  • The beginning of featured gamemodes

Another really solid preseason, fixing up the support role and the vision game in general.

Meanwhile, look at the changes for the last few preseasons.

  • Preseason 8 was mostly Runes Reforged, which honestly just broke more thing than it fixed.
  • Preseason 9 was turret plating, increasing T1 tower durability at the cost of massively increasing the amount of snowballing in lanes.
  • Preseason 10 seems to just be about powercreeping Dragon buffs to hell.

...can we go back to the old ways, please?

If you want these cool gimmicks, that's fine. Put them on new champs, new gamemodes, new maps.

Just please, fix what we already have.

Preseason has always been the time for huge changes

Preseason is the time to make the changes that need to be made.

It's not a time to just add dumb gimmicks for no damn reason.

The only "big" change is the Dragon change, and all it does is massively increase the power of dragon buffs/make the map more dangerous.

With these changes, if you have a bad jungler who can't control the pit, the Dragon buffs are so damn overpowered that you're just going to lose flat out.

If they wanted to use Preseason to introduce a new "Dragons Nest" map with these broken ass buffs as the focal point, that's totally fine, but they didn't. They're just throwing more damage on the map and hoping for the best.

Every other change they've made is small enough that it could be dropped in a normal patch without anybody blinking an eye.

  • A couple new Lethality items, some "two piece set" mechanics.
  • A support item update. I think we're on, like, number four now.
  • Sidelane Alcoves that serve no purpose other than nerfing wall-stuns.
  • Top/Jungle XP tweaks. Again.

They're making a bunch of new balance issues in an effort to buff Dragon while handwaving away the actual problems with the game.

How are they throwing more damage when all you see is damage nerfs and even resistance buffs?

They remove the massive stat stick the elder currently gives and nerfing the DoT damage in exchange for a under 20% health damage execute which I see as neutral, and the mountain drake gives resistance. Plus they're removing the true damage from conqueror.

Where's the more damage?

  • Base cloud buff grants Ult CDR. We don't have numbers yet, but even if its as little as 5% per stack then combined with capped CDR and ultimate hunter, that's up to 61.75% CDR on your ult.
  • Empowered cloud buff is just a passive Shojin. You know, the item that was so broken they had to straight up remove it?
  • Empowered infernal buff is essentially a free Ludens for your entire team on a 3 second CD that also triggers on basic attacks.
  • Edge of Night works like Banshees now, so now it's dumpstered even harder than it already was.
  • "Set Bonuses" for Lethality items make them stronger as two-item pickups. It's not a huge difference, for Ghostblade+Duskblade it's only 3 lethality, but that adds up with other changes. The saving grace is that you can only get 10% CDR from lethality items, so that's nice.
  • Sanguine Blade gives 30-80% attack speed while alone, on top giving AD, Lethality, and lifesteal.
  • Umbral Hydra, especially in combination with Duskblade, makes it trivial to one-shot an isolated target with its active. This is a massive buff to champions like Talon, Pyke, and Shaco who already wanted an early Tiamat, but didn't really have an attractive upgrade for it.
  • Aftershock is being nerfed on squishies, so there goes that option to survive.
  • Conq is having its true damage removed, but having its adaptive force upped, making it much stronger against squishies.
  • Klepto is being moved away from gold income and moved towards giving strong elixirs.
  • Solo laners level up faster and duo laners level up more slowly. They say this is to increase toplane agency, but in reality its just going to let mid hit 6 while the jungler and botlane are level 4, meaning you have a Zed roaming down to gank bot or invade the jungle with a massive level advantage, ready to slaughter anything he touches.

...and then there's Immolation, which is just cancer.

Old Elder burn was strong when stacked. Sure, but at least it was a DOT. You had time. This new effect is raw burst.

This buff essentially throws Urgot's ult onto every member of the enemy team when you get it. It won't happen often, but it's just cancer.

Couple of new items and XP changes and that's it.

But yeah I agree. I really expected an item shop overhaul and all we got is new items and shojin removed

How about they fix the fucking rank system, matchmaking from the shitshow they created in s9. just get rid of this rigged system called promos or actually match you to people your own skill level on your team not outright double handicapping you with a shit team.
