How should I play Aatrox

So I tried new Aatrox yesterday, was pretty fun (at least since I was able to bully an Annie and Yasuo early on), and felt good and felt like I could do some serious damage. The problem is, I thought my damage was going to transfer down the road and I was going to deal around the same amount, but I found that I kept getting CC locked (hate Soraka) and I didn't feel very durable (I for some reason thought my healing was going to be Darius levels but found out that my healing wasn't even comparable to Rhaast (and I was used to Aatrox's heal on old W))

So my question to those who have a few games of new Aatrox under their belts, what are the optimal items (which ones are a must-buy every game) and how should I play him when the early/mid game is over?

Try this out if you're having trouble with mobility and sticking to targets. It's worked very well or me.

There are several guides on how to play him, though most work around the same combo:

Q, W, Q, E, Q.

Sometimes you can throw in an AA between parts of it, or use an E instead of W (though it's much harder to hit the third part if you don't use W), but other then that they tend to be the same unless the situation allows.

Build wise, Triforce/black cleaver/titanic/steraks are all good early items, with anything tanky/Frozen Mallet/GA thereafter depending on team comp/laner.

Runes: Grasp is ok(ish), Conqueror is pretty standard (I reccomend when laning), Electrocute/Dark Harvest are good in jungle (not tried either in lane yet).

Ult should be used as early as possible when you expect to die from a fight. Remember the longer it lasts, the more %HP to regain (another good reason for getting HP in your itemization).

For more detail, check out almost any guide out there. They all follow the same kind of plan if with slightly different builds depending on the expected matchup.
