What is Bronze like?

And I'm being serious here, and I'm not trying to Troll or Offend the people in Bronze so don't take it to heart.

When I FIRST started league it was back when everything was off Elo score. I got to like the high silver elo before it was converted to what we have now, and I've been off and on between gold and plat but I keep asking myself. "I know what silver is like, but how the hell are people in Bronze?"

In MY mind I picture like people building Mana Items only on Energy Champions or Tower Diving at level 1. I just personally can't see how people "Less than Silver" Is the polite way I want to put it.

Some streams occasionally show games between their Bronze subscribers (i.e. Subwars).

Watching one of those may give you a decent idea.

there isn't much, if any, people doing those "troll" builds. You may see a random nidalee buiding a randuins because they lack the positioning skill to survive without it, but that's about the most common of a "troll build" you'll see without them trying to legitimately troll.

Bronze is really just players with no map awareness, lack of game knowledge (prioritizing objectives, how to freeze a wave, how to properly adapt ur build to the enemy team/individual laner, etc) as well as players who care more about playing the latest "op" champ than someone they are comfortable with. The latest hot play is prioritized over 1st tower blood, and other such things.

Silver is where players start pretending they have some sort of concept of this, but bronze just doesn't make the attempt

Silver is where players group over objectives constantly and at random.

It was hilarious how many games just involved 2-3 minute standoffs around some objective before a player got caught and a fight started.

that is so true!

I just treated them as an ARAM game with a small laning phase before it; I would recommend champions with safe waveclear, long-ranged poke and/or AoE CC.

I mostly spammed Varus and Ziggs in this ELO to quickly climb out of it.

  • While people grouped, I'd poke them down before every fight
  • If someone mispositioned, I could (dis)engage fights
  • If the enemy tried to push, I could waveclear almost indefinitely before the minions even reached the tower

Four years ago I walked into League of Legends not knowing a thing about it, having never played a single moba, never heard of Dota, or any of those games that are even remotely similar, or even played PC games as I was raised on consoles and only played LoL because a friend nagged me to. A year later I decided to play ranked, got placed bronze because I was still kind of a noob, very slowly learned everything I needed to know and what mentality fit my gameplay style which was that of an aggressive jungler, and finally carried myself out of bronze a little over a month ago.

That said Bronze is a shitshow for the most part, but like all the other ranks, there is a definite difference between a bronze 5 and a bronze 1 player.

Bronze 5: these people deserve to be in bronze and commit every sin that is possible to commit in this game. It is truly that simple: no map awareness, will flame each over anything, do not understand how to counter-pick or counter-build, these are the people who first-time something in ranked and still blame everyone else for their own fuck-ups, the people you can tell are below the age of 10 and think Athene's Unholy Grail is a better item on Nasus than frozen heart or Ice Borne Gauntlet.

Bronze 4: these people are slightly less toxic but are still very stupid for the most part and generally operate under the assumption that since "Hey, at least i'm not bronze 5, which is as low as you can go" that everything is going to be smooth sailing for them, and while they make attempts at improving, clearly aren't serious and will get very angry very quickly if you scold them for anything.

Bronze 3: I call this the bridge connecting Hell to Purgatory, or the proving grounds. Why? Because it separates those who deserve to be in bronze from those who at least show signs of genuinely wanting to improve and who are visibly starting to become more competent players. If you can make it out of bronze 3 and into bronze 2, the difference in intelligence is enormous, and it serves as a stable platform to continue getting good enough for when the time comes that you're ready to get out.

Bronze 2: People seem to know what they're doing, are capable of warding, act generally civil toward each other, though they're still capable of acting like little shits, and can be considered relatively decent at the game in that you'll find mistakes that are mostly based on super-specific details as opposed to lacking basic common sense.

Bronze 1: These people deserve to get out of bronze. They have all the basic essentials, are competent at the game, could obviously use some improvements here or there, but are clearly capable of holding their own weight and carrying a team of retards if necessary, and are pretty much ready to start actually climbing.

Hope that answers your question.
