It's soon-to-be season 8 and RIOT still thinks Control Wards are worth 3733 gold late game

I think we've all had this issue at one time or another. It's late game, you're full build. Warding becomes a team effort and the support has to give up an item slot to make room for 3 pinks. Effectively spending a theoretical gold value of 3733 (The highest gold value item not accounting Ornn items) for that Control Ward. This also encompasses the rest of the team too, having to give up a slot for pinks if they need it. Why haven't we gotten a ward slot yet?

It's meant to be that way. The later the game goes on, as a way to help speed things up, and actually set up some risk of wandering around, you don't get consistent vision. Can you imagine how terrible it'd be for any flanker, any assassin to have to work around yet more constant vision when they want to punish someone overextending alone?

It's the same reason Riot removed normal wards in the first place. People would just buy them and become ungankable, which made junglers who couldn't gank in alternate ways pretty much useless. Except, this isn't for early game, it's for late game. It puts actual risk to sending someone alone to clear a wave, or push a lane, when you don't have constant vision in your own jungle.

Well theres zombie ward now. So its something. But i agree a ward slot would be nice.

Sweeper + Blue Trinket + some teamwork.

That's what Riot wants. Put your Control Ward out when you think it may be the last opportunity to do so, but having a chance to just set up pinks all late game just creates more stall. They want vision late game to be limited for a better chance to get a pick (either side) or force/bait objectives.

At late game you have a lot of gold so you just sell your boots, buy a control ward, place it wherever you want, go back to base and buy boots again
