We nerfed Karthus, because the new masteries made him stronger...

Meanwhile

Meanwhile these bitches ran away unscathed

How riot nerfs things: A) They play low elo ranked B) they watch challenjour rank streamers C) they watch professional circuits D) they watch professional streams. E) (and this is the important one) When doing in-house playtesting a better player amongst the staff roflstomps a weaker player and the offending champion is nerfed unless theyre flashy.
I don't get it
Morgana skyrocket to number one midlaner cause she can abuse the hell out of the new masteries, making her extremly broken, but she didnt get nerfed at all, meanwhile Karthus and Anivia, both champions who saw no play before and are not played now were nerfed with the excuse that the new masteries might make them too strong otherwise.
RIOT logic!

If you want to use the pick rate argument, you need to understand that mid lane Morg is played much less than Anivia seeing as majority of Morgana's pick rate is her being taken bottom lane.
haven't seen her at all at mid. only bot...
Its unacceptable for a champion to become more "powerful" because it defeats the purpose of the nerfs they implement. It has been made clear they do not go back on their nerfs unless its Lee sin.

the thing about nerfs is they should be used to tone down a champions power or exacerbate a weakness. Lets use riven as an example;
Until recently, her HP regen was 1.2 or something bonkers like that. the reason for this was because rivens strength was her AD burst (which was toned down by nerfs to her stun and ult), and her weakness was her inability to deal with poke/harass. Another example was lux. Her weakness was immobility, so they nerfed her shield and lowered her base movement speed.
That being said, champions should have clear strengths and weaknesses. Karthus's was sustained damage; being an immobile mage, he was and still is entitled to high damage output. Nerfing karthus in the way that they did was completely a deathknell of support karthus and only a minor nerf for mid/top karthus. Come to think of it, riot uses nerfs as a method to remove undesired playstyles from champions.
Ahem
