title pretty much ranged tops just hella screw up team comps because then only 2 roles can really play a tank, and if you do go a tank top vs ranged, you end up becoming literally useless, and having a very unfun experience overall.
Sir Fuzzi3 votesRanged tops tend to function far better as such than they do as proper ranged (mid or bot). They're top because they satisfy the niche. They're good against picks like Darius and Garen who tend to pick better fights when it stays closer to them. Meanwhile, a ranged top like Quinn has a bit more room to act against them and a few more resources to use against them. Contrarily, they'd probably just feel under-ranged and out-poked anywhere else, as well as probably not having either the CC or the burst to hack it in either role (where they're likely relied upon for one or the other).
I think they have a niche. Besides, isn't Yasuo popular? Wouldn't he have an easy time with ranged tops since he can wind wall them? Others like Blitz and Naut can force the fight, too, which will put ranged at a disadvantage since they tend to rely on fairly protracted moves (again calling to mind Quinn).
aspects11 votesi see your point, but i want to emphasize how unfun it is for the person who is playing the tank. if you pick darius for example, and then the enemy picks quinn, your just going to have a horrible and unfun laning phase and late game since you are going to be super underfarmed, and in general, the entire game is just going to be a negative experience for you
ForgivenSoul1 votesnot necessarily. i've played darius against teemo's several time. it's just a matter of how you play the game. i let him push hang out at my tower and try not to engage him unless i'm getting a gank. take as little harass as possible and build defensive. rush a spirit visage and just destroy him after that. it's slower to get to the point you can fight them but it's not impossible.

Anyways, ive beat ranged tops with tanks. Takes a bit to get used to, but it can be done. Ive won vs a vayne top as tahm kench..... Ranged tops need all the gold they can get due to hefty ad items. Deny them it if you can and harrass them when you can. Your a tank. Get in their face and go "BOO!

I will keep playing ranged tops, because that's basically ONLY way to be able to do something against bullshit champions like Yasuo, Fiora or Irelia. So yeah, go cry somewhere else, Ranged tops are here to stay.

Then he was counter picked against. Blitzcrank is next to useless against a good morgana. Same with braum. Counterpicks happen and if there was no counter, there would be more of them. Then again, i absolutely hate darius as well so you kinda shoot yourself in the foot by making a comment about you playing him :p

I mean really, not that hard lol. As i said, ive beat her with tahm kench. Immobile little toad, but can take a hit well enough to kill her
