A proper change to make Tryndamere requiring "actual skills"

W- Mocking Shout

Enemies that faces Tryndamere in front will only have their attack damage reduced by half.

Well yea, the current Tryndamere's W is technically a kind of Fiddlestick's old passive, where all you do is stand near them & have a free damage reduction on enemies whenever they're in his radius. It's not really fair, aside the fact that he gets free AD/Crits/Immortality from ult.

Yay or nay?

Trynda requires more skills than some broken champions like Vi - builds full tank, kills you with one combo without counterplay even if you are tanky too with her passive dmg and armor shred.

no but im diamond on euw and you are silver 5 on na. this pretty much settles the point about whos retarded or not.

No it doesnt lol your skill in the game doesnt determine the overall skill of a champion. My friend is diamond 3 on Na servers and he thinks trynd is in the top 3 easiest champs so because hes more skilled at the game than you that makes what you said invalid? lol what no champion that is auto attack reliant can be a higher skill cap than any champ that is ability reliant. Its common sense. Notice the highest skill cap champs in the game all are abiltiy reliant (elise, jayce, zed, lee sin, leblanc, etc). trynd is just as easy to play as yi or garen

i would be willing to agree on ignoring skill levels for this discussion, but your argument is like so wrong i dont even know what to say.

generally speaking, what riot means with "difficulty" in their difficulty skill stat is mechanical difficulty. sure a beginner might not be able to do rengar combos or whatnot, but honestly, everyone can easily learn to press the right buttons at the right time even in lower elos. i have some gold friends which have quite impressive mechanics on lee and similar "hard to play champs" but the hard part isnt pressing buttons. everyone who isnt physically or mentally handycapped can press buttons fast and in fast combinations. the hard thing is doing the right thing at the right time, but with this, it doesnt come down to button pressing, it comes down to how small your window of "right time" is.

there are generally speaking 3 different cathegories.

  1. success
  2. even
  3. failure

to have success with what your champion is supposed to do, it requires only a minimum of mechanical skill and basically everyone past bronze can acquire said skill. it also requires a certain understanding of league of legends and this is the same for all champions. you just have to know what you are doing. this cathegorie is basically the same for all champs. to win, you have to play right, simple story.

to fail is also the same thing with all champions. if the mistakes you make are too big or you simply didnt figure out the right time and place to do what you intended to do, it fails.

now the "even" part is where the difficulty of a champion is decided. basically, the larger this area is, the easier a champion. you could say, "going even" is allready a failure because you didnt succeed, but you only "failed" to a level where its acceptable, aka "forgiving mistakes".

there are certain champions which have alot of this "even" area where they can do really stupid things and get away with it while others make a slight mistake and are punished hard. this is the true difficulty of a champion - not being able/allowed to make mistakes. this depends heavily on the kit and the scaling of a champion.

auto attack based no-hard-cc champions are the ones that scale best on item advantages but they are also the ones that fall behind the hardest while at the same time having the absolute minimum space for error, since most of them can only fight all-in battles or specific trades and can only retreat victoriously if done exactly right. otherwise they will lose the trade, get pushed out of lane or even die.

also, melee auto attack champions need a certain freedom to do their work. they need to be able to stick to the target to keep auto attacking without being cced. a movementspeed or attackspeed slow alone can cripple them hard while most ability based champions have less counterplay to their damage.

surely for beginners like yourself it might seem really easy to play tryndamere and master yi because you literally just need to auto attack some other beginners who dont know what to do against it and since your auto attacks are an endless resource, you dont have to be careful with it. same as tryndamere is probably the best champion in the game against bots, because he can gapclose on them, slow them and auto attack them without cooldown or manacost until they die while sustaining up at the same time. this is a good example of how some champions may seem really overpowering at low skill levels while being incredibly hard to play at higher skill levels.

i would actually go so far as to say that the hardest to play/master champs in the game are garen, darius, master yi, tryndamere, xin zhao, miss fortune and probably some others i dont care thinking about right now.

this is not because they are weak, its because they forgive no mistakes and possess little comeback potential due to auto attacking being mostly unable to surprise people and also is pretty weak without the right items.

ofcourse you can just go ahead and keep believing champions like fizz, zed, yasuo, lee sin and rexai are super hard because you have to press button combinations but then again, most people would agree with you and you could feel good about it.

lcs players have said exactly what im saying. There is a reason yi trynd garen arent played in the lcs. It isnt because the yarent good. Its because their skill ceiling is so low you can amster the champion easily while lee sin you can always get better at, always perform different combos, always make different plays. They are mechanically hard to master, trynd is not, he is incredibly easy for a level 10 person to pick up and obliterate people with and play that champion the same way all the way through ranked. Trynd only has one viable way to build him and thats straight ham wit hcrit chance, lee has a million ways you can build him and play him.

  1. master yi was played by faker midlane in korean lcs last week

  2. you can only say this because your view of the game is too limited. you see a lee sin using Q F R W E and think "wow that was so skilled" while you see a master yi getting a triplekill and think "omg everyone can do that", but you dont realize the build-up that led to that triplekill and you dont see the build-up that led to that insec kick and you dont see the reasons behind creating both of those situations.

all you see is a master yi auto attacking and using his resets and a lee sin use a 3-button-in-1-second-combo that is hard to pull off for people with like no videogame-experience and so it happens they think its incredibly hard and takes insane amount of skill.

its like, people dont realize that lee sins power is limited by his stats the same way as everyones power is. they just see alot of jumps and people dying and think "omg high skillcap" but lee sin infact has a pretty low skillcap as there is only so much you can do and so much you cant.

i have this term for certain types of things people do in league of legends that i call "fucking around". people fuck around too much with champions who cant fuck around, and champions with burst or mobility and specially those with both are very good at fucking around, and lee sin is like the best fucker in the game. if you try to fuck with him, he will dodge all your skillshots and kick your entire team into his fountain, but he has only a mediocre amount of raw power, which is his weakness.

in league of legends, to every situation there is a "clean" play you can make and there is fucking around. if you choose to make that clean play every single time, thus making your entire gameplay clean, lee sin can be as skilled as he wants but he can never fly around and dodge your skillshots and he can never kick you into his team and he can never use 50 different combos and superhuman magic tricks to surprise you. thats because he is a champion, as most mobility champions, who rely on enemies making mistakes and is very good at punishing them to the fullest. thats why his skillcap is actually very limited, because all you can do is punish mistakes even harder when you are exceptionally skilled, but you can not FORCE mistakes.

a champion like darius for example, or even garen, has almost unlimited skillcap because they dont rely on the enemies making mistakes, they rely on playing as clean as humanly possible giving abuse-champs like lee or any ccbot/assassin no chance to take advantage of any mistake. this means, garens skillcap is basically limited only by the maximum understanding of the game that is theoretically possible. its just a different design, a different concept. garen is meant to beat people in a clean, maximally skillful way while lee sin is designed to beat players on a rather "psychological" level, baiting them to try and fuck with him or fuck around in general when he is on the map.

i know, this is all very new for you and you might not understand any of it. for you, auto attacking might be easy and using a zed assassination combo might be hard, but remember, you are very very bad at this game compared to what would be possible and since a persons opinion always stems from the part of the bigger picture that he can see, your opinion is based on extremely limited information. if you keep playing league of legends and if you get better at it, your opinion about champions and matchups and "plays" will change over time. for better or worse. and you will realize that things you thought at certain points of your life were very naive or just plain wrong andn ow you know better. and then, even later, you will realize that even this "knowing better"-view can be overhauled and upgraded endless times.

and then, one day, you will realize that garen is harder to play than lee sin.
