Daily reminder Janna is at a 54% win rate with 15% play rate
Better nerf Shen.
Better nerf Shen.
I'm gonna give a really unpopular opinion here. Janna is the single most nerfed champion in LoL history. You can nerf her a hundred more times, and she'll still be one of the most strong supports. It's her kit. No matter the numbers, her kit is the epitome of support. She has an instant cast knockback, keeping her ADC safe from any diver. Failing that, she has an ult to keep her ADC safe and even heal them. She has a shield to keep her ADC safe. She has a slow to let her ADC chase down kills.
Do you see the common factor in all this?
It's the ADC. Janna is the best support in the game at helping the ADC. She peels, shields, heals, and slows the enemy all for her ADC. She is so good, despite any kind of numbers change, because ADCs are so good. There's no point in nerfing Janna. I'm not saying to nerf ADCs, but... her winrate is because of the strength of the ADC as a class. Is that a problem? I don't know.
Also Nami, Nami has CC for the adc to get free kills, and a giant knockup for her entire team, Also heals, ms buffs, and aa buffs. and a Slow on the AA buff
but nami takes skill.
nami takes having both allies and enemies in range to bounce waves off of while the enemy isnt focusing you.
which requires proper positioning from nami. And this is only one of her skills.
Landing her Q is not easy, but is a very important part of her kit.
and your allies in range during the lane poke. i find it pretty hard to miss her q not saying its an easy skill shit just that i dont miss it much unless versus lee sin or yasou.
She needs an overhaul. She is too effective for a 0-risk champion; not even gonna mention the new items on her. Soraka atleast "has" to go in and land her Q so she can sustain, but Janna can just sit back and spam E on her teammate before they take damage, rather than afterwards. A free 1300g+ in stats on top of that pushes her far far over the edge.
How would you like to nerf her?
I didn't say nerf her, I said overhaul.
Gut her kit. Make her a champion that doesn't lose games with 0 deaths.
Her kit is fine. It's the new bs Redemption that's causing this. Her current state has been for 5 months now and noone complained until now.

Yeah but her skill ceiling is way higher than what most people think.
The problem is Janna is 100% a support. She basically gives her power as a champion to the ADC - as a standalone champion, Janna isnt very good. She is among the worst champions in the game to assert any lane dominance or lane pressure. However, she is worth picking because she allows your ADC to become 1.5x as strong.
By playing Janna (as a support main, she is my second most played) youre basically going double or nothing on your ADC being able to carry. You arent going to be setting up plays as with Blitz or Alistar. You arent going to become a secondary AP carry with Zyra. She is effective at what she does, but she lives and falls by what she does. If your ADC isnt good at positioning, you arent going to be able to do anything to win - essentially giving a dead bot lane. An Alistar is still extremely and uniquely useful even if his ADC is feeding. Janna's usefulness exponentially diminishes with a feeding ADC.
ADC gets 2x more shit and is unable to be killed because you double-tapped Q and/or pressed R, while giving them 1700g in free stats + a 400-500 dmg shield on a 5 sec cd.
Her cooldown are so low she doesnt have to time shit, just mash the keys when they are up.
As a decent Janna player I promise you that you're giving the random ADC too much credit. There's a reason she's allegedly at 54% win rate and not 100%.

I play Janna whenever I have to fill and I have a lot of success with her (she is my strongest champion despite me not playing her in normals at all and not playing support/botlane at al) and I disagree with you.
You make it seem like losing lane/having a bad ADC would punish the Janna player while it's actually the opposite. There is no support in this game that makes a shitty ADC seem like a god like Janna does. If your ADC has shitty positioning then you save him. If he can't even autoattack then no problem, just protect one of the other carries - Janna is a super great roam support after all.
I lose my lane like 80% of the time - and win 80% of my games regardless (check my op.gg). Janna does not need to do well in order to be effective.

She needs an overhaul.
Not really.
I'd argue that her win-rate is actually because most of the people who play her actually know wth they're doing. Yes, she's got strong synergy with any marksman, but she also has strong synergy with most mages, a lot of assassins, and even some tanks and fighters. There are a handful of other champs who have similar levels of synergy (Nautilus can peel for almost anyone, Nami's got similar synergy to Janna except with a heal instead of a shield, Sona's got more utility without the easy peel), but she's got an odd kit that's not easy for most people to play, so unless you have either zero net interaction outside of shielding stuff and occasionally landing a Q or you actually know what you're doing and can play her in the middle of a team-fight safely, you're not going to do well.

I'm gonna give a really unpopular opinion here. Janna is the single most nerfed champion in LoL history.
That's not an opinion, that's fact.
This is true, Janna's specialty is providing peel, which makes her always work at her best when paired up with a marksman, even more so in solo queue, where marksmen are more liable to take risks. However, some of her power bleeds into effects that don't really relate to peel, namely the AD on her shield, which is more of an aggressive buff, her personal movement speed bonus, which allows her to outpace even melee champions with persistent mobility, and the (albeit minor) very long-ranged damage on her Q, which gives her a small amount of poke. In a League where many fighters and marksmen are singled out for having overloaded kits, Janna similarly has a massively loaded toolbox of abilities, and is likely at least partially responsible for setting the precedent for do-everything supports such as Lulu, Nami, Sona and Thresh. Whereas Lee Sin engineered a meta where, for a time at least, every new jungler had to be overloaded to compete with him, Janna likely did the same for supports, and is still among the top picks to this day.
While there's some room to work with if Janna ever gets nerfed, I don't think gutting her should really be the way to go, since she's a well-loved and mostly healthy champion. Rather, the better solution might instead to make Janna more specialized, and take out some of her less peel-related tools, e.g. her shield AD, in exchange for more appropriate power. For example, increasing her Q knockup if she charges it for longer would allow her to set up defensive traps, without making her too good at aggressive CC, and having her shield push its target at their attack range from their attack target with each basic attack would preserve its autoattack-based theme, while making it work instead as better self-peel (it would make orbwalking easier), which would also synergize with her innate.
True, but one thing you messed up:
Janna isn't dependent on the adc role as a class. Just the strongest adcs in the marksman class. The stronger the most picked adcs are in the game, the stronger Janna becomes by proxy. No one cares about the lower strength ones because they're rarely gonna show up anyway. Just means Caitlyn is stupid strong atm.
Classic gameplay trash reply relating any issues to adc. I bet you sucking on a dick is because an adc made you do it right?
Obviously. Have you seen Pool Party Graves!? I have no choice in the matter.
Coming from a low elo scrub: If pretty much all the viable roster of jungle is composed by divers isn't normal that their hardest counter has a high winrate?
When has this not been the case? She's been the most consistent champion to see play in the entirety of the existence of this game. She's never had any significant changes to her kit and has a low skill floor so anyone that has ever gotten stuck playing support can just pick her and not feed.
Actually, if you really think Supporting with Janna in low elo is easy then you're delusional.
I mean yeah you can only use E and R like anyone else could but if your team is behind (i mean you're not winning every game to be required to just spam E and R) then you are not winning if you're an idiot and don't know how Janna works or what works best with her kit in terms of itemization.
I don't see how anything you said refutes anything I said, I also don't see how ANYONE could argue that Janna is a hard champ to pick up, whether she has a high skill ceiling depends on who you ask but her skill floor is remarkably low for how effective it is.
I didn't say otherwise, i'm just saying that her skill ceilling is way higher than people make it out to be. The skill floor is low regardless.
I'm still of the opinion that Janna is the only character in League that could do zero damage with their abilities (Literally zero) and still have a strong winrate. She's had, what? 25+ nerfs? Yet she always rises up again.
...Janna still has damage left in her kit after all those nerfs? I'm surprised she even has base AD at this point.
you mean better nerf
Better rework Ryze.
Nobody complains too much about Janna because even if she feeds her ass off, she is still probably the most useful member of the team. Plus its pretty rare to see a toxic Janna. Meanwhile, you can bet that the feeding Yasuo, Riven, or Vayne on your team is already flaming their teammates' heads off and blaming everybody else for his mistakes eight minutes into the game.
Just quit crying about Janna already.
If they nerf her disengage she will be nothing but a squishy elf with no damage, 1% pick rate and 43% win rate, and noone wants that to happen. Noone wants to see a champion basically dying.
She will always be at 50%+ win rate since the majority of people who play against her don't even try to counter (
ecc) and are always engaging trying to get kills.
I do agree she's over the top right now, but mostly because of her itemization buffing her heals and shields (
).
Not me, I still enjoy seeing
in the state she's in now, because unlike a lot of other people, I still clearly remember the abomination she once was.
Tbh Kalista is my exception. I feel sorry for her being like deleted from the game but at the same time i kinda secretly enjoy not having to deal with her.
I will never forget the day I saw
champion spotlight. I simply could not believe that, while there were still heavy discussions on the "mobility creep" subject, Riot would decide to release a champion that not only leaps after every autoattack, but also goes further by running away. Then I saw who his creator was, and everything made sense.
I don't think Braum and Sona are real counters to Janna...
Braum can cancel Janna's ult and her Q. If Braum manages to stun her she's forced to flash away since she's squishy enough to die as soon as braum + his adc activate braum's passive. With Sona if you manage to constantly poke her/her adc she's pretty much done since her shield has like 9 sec cooldown and Sona's Q is like 4/6 sec. If you poke her effectively she and her adc will be forced to play passive since she has no sustain (unless she ults, but that can be avoided by using your ult to stop her ult). My english sucks, I know, but it's late and it's not my main language so sorry for my mistakes.
Just because Braum has answers to Janna doesn't mean he counters Janna. A counter is someone that leaves you with significantly fewer viable options outside of straight losing than standard match-ups. Seeing how Janna's extremely passive and is perfectly fine waiting for Braum to make the first move, the only way he'd "counter" Janna is if he landed a Q, forced her ult, THEN ulted. Any offense mounted off his ult would be phased out by her ult afterwards unless you delete your targets on follow-up.
As for Sona, she actually loses all trades so long as the shield stands and the enemy marksman actually hits you back. You're not landing Q the second it's up every time, but Janna can react to all your Q's assuming her E's up. Saying Sona counters Janna is akin to saying Lulu does too.
I'm just losing time trying to explain it theoretically. Most of the times that Janna gets stunned by Braum's passive she ults because she's like at 30%/40% hp. Just try Braum + Lucian/Draven/Twitch/Jinx ecc and she will be forced to ult/flash. Sona is more difficult and it all depends on your positioning, you're obviosuly going to lose all trades if you don't use your W properly/attack when the enemy adc isn't last hitting the minion. I wish I had some videos as example to what I'm saying, because you can't imagine the whole situation
If Janna is being hit by Braum's Q, she's being played wrong.
Using Sona's Q and W in trades eats more mana than Janna's singular E. That isn't a counter-pick. If it was, Sona would be straight dominant in this lane, like she is against Lulu.
You can afk in the bush and spam the shield or the tornado. Even if they nerf her more, she will do the same.
Except that a strategy like that only works reliably in low ELO. You try that against a platinum or higher bot lane, you're almost certainly going to get your ass handed to you.
good thing 95% of the community is lower than platinum.
You mean that a support specialized in protecting the ADC and heavy dissengage is enjoying a high pick and win rate on a meta that's based on towerdiving bot lane as early as possible? That's extremely surprising.
