Support teemo with smite was good - What?!

ok so thanks to the fill thing even though i asked for top/mid draft gave me roles i didnt want.

first it was jungle, and it autochanged my summoner spell to smite, but someone dodged, so i went into next que, and was put as support.

because i play teemo exclusively, and because i was hacked recently and they deleted all my runes pages... -_-; all i have is a runes page for teemo...

so i asked if it was ok to sup with teemo, my adc was an ez who said sure =3 so i did... and was too preoccupied figuring out how to support i didn't notice that my summoner spell was still smite till it was too late and i was stuck with it. X_X

we were against a tristana and a brand.

it did not go well for them, brand gave us some trouble, but my blind shut tristana down, my shrooms and wards helped me invade their jungle and farm it, and i stole their blue at level 7 >=D and we were so well warded their jungler couldn't gank us. their jungle then got mad at tristana and accused her of intentionally feeding. but... tristana was just straight up shut down. my poison and shrooms got her low and ez would promptly finish her with his ult. it was beautiful. there was nothing the poor tristana could do. it was just straight up a really bad match up for her. i actually felt bad after the match. X_X

.... soooo now im running high on how successful that fuck up was and i want to keep running teemo support with smite intentionally now LOL but i think it would only work with a long distance sniper sort of adc like cait, ez, jin, ashe, umm what others... jinx maybe?

anyone up to playing some drafts as my adc while i try to determine if this is good or was just a fluke? lol add me =D or tell me what you think here, any suggestions like what items i should rush, etc. etc.

Just because you had good results with in in 1game, isnt reflective of anything. Play 100 games of Teemo support with smite, then look at your win rate.

well, Teemo support isnt very good. Its viable, its semi functional as a off-meta choice. But try to make it as functional as possible. Dont go smite. If anything id go Teleport+Flash+boots of mobiltiy, just for the map presence of mushrooms. Your main purpose as a gold starved Teemo, is going to be vision.

To be honest, supports (not just off-meta supports) should consider Smite as an alternative to ignite, exhaust, heal, or teleport, for a few reasons;

  1. If your jungler dies but theirs doesn't, jungle objectives are much more risky to secure. As a support you'll me roaming earlier to ward and gank anyhow, so having smite handy as a backup helps in that regard.

  2. Flexibility; let's start with blue smite and red smite first; the first provides a slow to a single target that will at times save your teammates or secure kills against enemies, and the second, while not as good in a duo lane, will at least grant you vision of the enemy smited and also increase your damage dealt to then. Now let's talk about the enchantments; Runic Echoes will help with ant late game mana problems, Cinderhulk will magnify tankiness, and even Devourer can be used for HP sustain in jungle.

  3. Smite is surprisingly good with support items, particularly Relic Shield; since ranged champions need to last hit minions to proc Relic Shield's heal, being able to smite a minion for gold and a heal without having to be in melee range makes it a safer and more effective option. It also helps with Frostfang once it's blue or red as it's a little hard to dodge a point and click spell (though not sure if summoner spells work that way with Frostfang). Even useful with Ancient Coin as cannon minions are always guaranteed to drop a coin and, in the event your adc gets caught out and your low on mana, gambling on a blue coin is better than nothing.

  4. Faster/better leashes; two smites at level 1 deal 780 damage total; that is over 1/3rd of Brambleback's and Sentinel's HP. Not to mention that Smite now heals you, so, as a support, you could tank a little bit of damage from the buff, smite it to weaken it, and walk back to your lane with full resources and little ground lost in lane.

However, even with all that in mind, there is one major flaw or caveat to all of that good stuff; Smite is virtually useless in lane until you get red or blue versions, which require gold. And with the focus on early to mid game dominance, running smite is currently more of a liability.
