Game ended up being a 4 vs 4

This happened years ago but a recent story reminded me of it =]

One of our opponents had to go, so to make it fair since i was the worst player anyhow, i sat out too.

the guy ended up coming back but we were both too unfarmed and underleveled so we stayed afkish and just chatted while our teams fought XD afterwards some of his team, wanted to report both of us. X_X; my team was chill though, cuz they were friends, =] but his teammates were jackasses... and they made this known AFTER the game was over. didnt hear them complaining when i was sitting out out of fair play >=[ maybe they didnt like us chatting or maybe they thought we shoulda reentered the game and done what we could. i dunno -_- but im glad i did 100% would do again.

nothing came of any report on my end, but damn people are too uptight... its not like the person could help it it was under special circumstances, and i backed out so it was a fair fight. i don't see why it was such a big deal? -_-'

EDIT: for clarity... im not asking for advice, that q was rhetorical. i just don't understand why people are so serious and so win thirsty that the win takes priority over a fun fair game, what happened to playing for playings sake? note this was normals, all i ever play is normals.

If "making it fair" means making it easier for the enemy, that is detrimental to your team and considered griefing behavior.

my team was fine with it, the problem was the enemy team wanted to report both me and the person that left initially. o_O like huh? i was trying to be fair to them

note, i was playing with friends, not randoms, and they like how i am like that. it meant they didnt get the fast/easy win, so a little frustrated, but considering their comments were along the lines of "your too nice" i don't think they were all that actually angry at me XD lol...

They may have reported you because they did not want to see you do that sort of behavior when they were on your team.

i still dont get how sitting out when they have 1 less player is all that awful though? i mean being 5 vs 4 it would have been an easy win and i killed the easy win because i wanted to be fair, but it was in interest of a fair game? how is that so awful?

Because you are making it harder for your team to win, and doing so intentionally.

i was making it an even playing field... its supposed to be 5 vs 5, then they lost one, so i sat out to even it out. so it was 4 vs 4.

sure me doing so they couldnt get an easy win, (they still won) but its not about that for everyone... i don't like easy wins or taking advantage of a bad situation... the win doesn't feel good man. because i sat out i felt like i made the game fair again, i felt good ^_^ just dont get why his team, the team i made it fair for, were the ones that wanted to report me along with their guy. o_O also the person had a SOLID reason why he had to go, i forgot what it was, but it was emergency level, not his fault. if i had been his teammate i woulda been like thats fine man don't worry about it. things happen. instead his teammates wanted to ding him, and me, and i don't see how what i did was even bad at all.

and you keep saying that i made it harder for my team to win, well duh, but i was setting it back to fair. i wasn't sabotaging the game, i was trying to make it fun for everyone.

If you aren't open to any advice, why are you bothering to post about this?

You aren't supposed to leave games regardless of what other people do. Whether your team was OK with it or not, you chose to affect the game negatively, while the other person who disconnected most likely did not.

i wasnt asking for advice actually... more making comment on how people are too uptight. so caught in the win to play for playing's sake, and its sad. X_X

I didn't really affect the game negatively, and the worst my own teammates had to say about it was that i was too nice. lol...

i really really don't see how making it fair is considered to be affecting it negatively.

How is creating balance effecting it negatively? people my side were happy and his only made complaint after the game.

You both also chose to AFK after he came back. You signed up to play a game, and it's against the rules to not play the game. Your team was fine with the decision. Great. The enemy team was not, and you contributed to the problem.

we chose to stay out cuz at that point we were so far behind we were farm bait. X_X

the enemy team didnt say anything till the game was over, or at least they said nothing about it in all chat.

You were sabotaging your team, however, by intentionally putting them at a disadvantage. I understand that it may not feel good - but it is not acceptable to put your teammates at a disadvantage by leaving/AFKing ever - even if someone else does it first - and even still, the enemy team has a right to report the behavior as well, given that it is not appropriate.

but they were not left at a disadvantage at all. they were already ahead in kills etc and still won. and even if that wasn't the case, 4 vs 4, is not disadvantaged.

That is fine. Once they are given an advantage, it is not up to you to take it away from them.

Your obligation is to your team, not the enemy. You are not setting things fair for your teammates who through no fault of their own are now unable to take advantage of an enemy disconnect.

technically, it was still fair for my team, they were not put at a disadvantage, they just weren't at a unfair advantage.

i get what you mean that my loyalty is to my team and only my team, but i don't see why you can't be nice to the enemy either. its a game, why is winning more important than playing fair?

You keep talking about their advantage relative to the enemy. That is unimportant. The important thing is their relative advantage or disadvantage to the team before you left. And there is no arguing that without you there, the team was at a disadvantage compared to the team before you left.

I think you might be one of those uptight people op is talking about. You don’t understand what he is saying at all and have no argument to present. It was a normal game with friends and his team did not care that he went afk to even up the game. The enemy team were the ones complaining that they were given a fair chance to win the game. Op did absolutely nothing wrong in the game simply because his team did not mind him doing it. At the end of the day norms is meant for fun and relaxation.
