Doing well in ranked solo, but not winning or moving up

I'm a support main as of season 7 (jungle in s6) and I found I am significantly better as a support. Now instead of being feast or famine I do well in all my games. Of course, being a low elo (bronze) I make MANY MANY mistakes! But im not looking to get into any elo higher than silver right now, i just want to get out of bronze. Despite me doing well, I tend to loose a fair amount although I do well in most of my games. I almost never blame my team for mistakes and take the blame instead, I re-watch my games, notice the things I do wrong, and make improvements on them in the next game. However I'm still finding it difficult to climb. As a support I know I need to be the one with lots of map awareness and making most of the calls, but whenever I try to make a call, people don't usually follow up, despite it being a good call (baron with jg and 2 others down or push for inhib instead of dragon, then go back and get drag while enemy defends) so if anyone knows how to make my calls more prominent that would be awesome. But does anyone have any advice that could help me reach silver? Thanks!

I would suggest going to https://www.reddit.com/r/summonerschool/ for more help on stuff like this. You're not going to find much help on these boards, sadly.

Most importantly, it's good to remember you're at your elo for a reason. You should always think this to yourself, no matter what elo you are at. This is what I told myself when I used to be Bronze (am now Masters). I told myself I deserve Bronze and when I improve, my rank will reflect that improvement. In your statement, even though you don't seem the kind of person who blames everything on teammates, and you do acknowledge you make mistakes (which tells me you have a good attitude and will most likely climb out of Bronze), you still qualify that and place some blame on teammates. You should just place zero blame on your teammates at all. Only think about what YOU can do to improve, since that's all you have control over, and ultimately what determines your rank.

If you're in Bronze, I would focus more just on plain mechanics and decision-making. Make sure your runes/masteries are optimal. Learn matchups well. Always think that you need 3 wards down at a given time. Use control wards. Don't build the same thing every single game (but you can have a general go-to build to fall back on if you're unsure what to build).

With regard to teammates not listening to calls, spam pinging (don't do it all the time) is a way to make your calls heeded better. A lot of people will tell you it's not a good thing to do, but it's honestly the best way to get something to the attention of teammates who won't listen. Again, as long as you don't always do it, it doesn't come across as toxic.

Getting people to listen to your calls is always an issue in any elo. You just have to tend to go with the group most of the time. If they follow Great, If they don't then no big deal. Follow where the majority of the team is going. Try to keep the communication up though. Never hurts.

Map awareness is a job for everyone. Not just you. There is nothing you can do sometimes when someone does not want to look at the map and see they are getting ganked. Something I learned from was to ping on top of your allies when danger is coming. Then ping where the danger is coming from. If they still don't catch it or notice then it is out of your hands. Sorry. Just keep it up because it will pay off eventually.

Try to play more Damage or CC Heavy supports in Bronze...tends to work lol. But keep those wards up and keep them on the next possible objective.

Not sure how much my advice will help but I thought I would get my 2 cents in lol.

Good Luck climbing :D

To get out of low elo as support, it's best to play something with high dmg/presence in lane, like brand/malza/zyra. Just harass adc's in lane and they'll get tilted so hard and you can easily 1v1 them and win teamfights later on with high dmg supports. I got to diamond 2 with soraka only, but I don't think she's good in lower elos.
