Honestly u should not care about meta. Meta can be changed any time and u just brought a champion for that brief period. You should picked champion that is fun and and works with your play-style. Now lets talk about pro and con.

Tryndamere Pro

  1. good duelist and split pusher.
  2. has health sustain
  3. 35% crit at lvl 1
  4. very mobile and does not need unit or ward to get over unlike jax
  5. can't really die on a 1v1 or even 2v1 due to his ult
  6. Don't really need to be in teamfight to win.
  7. late game monster
  8. good at chasing and escaping con
  9. ranged will be ur worst nightmare
  10. very aa reliant. Can be bad against champions like teemo.
  11. Can't really bring significant damage without full rage bar.
  12. cc is ur worst nightmare but can be solved with qss
  13. not good at teamfight
  14. after ur ult, ignite can kill u
  15. has to built damage
  16. counter-picked really hard

Jax pro

  1. good duelist, teamfight and split pusher.
  2. His dodge can block enemy and minions' aa and the dodge does more damage. Potential can fight lvl 1-3 without worrying about creeps aggro.
  3. mobile but need a unit or ward.
  4. his passive and his ult is god on killing turret and enemy.
  5. potential can 5 man stun.
  6. good at chasing and escaping
  7. does not need to built full damage. He can built some resistance.
  8. late game monster
  9. has an aa cancel with his w and hits turret con
  10. ranged will be ur worst nightmare
  11. very aa reliant. Can be bad against champions like teemo
  12. cc is ur worst nightmare
  13. counter-picked really hard
  14. without dodge, u will be picked really hard

Ranged depends on the champion. Some ranged champions will not want to go up against leapstun Jax.

They are also both different kinds of late game monsters. Tryndamere generally builds a ton of damage, so you just wait out the ult duration. Jax does a ton of damage with just a Trinity Force, can build tanky, and just be unstoppable. I always hate when Jax has 4k hp, I barely do any damage to him, but he's still shredding through buildings' HP like an ADC.

-Both, meh. -Jax is more 'consistent' and quite a bit more flexible, but Tryndamere's win rates more than suggest that not too many in-meta champions are well equipped for dealing with him. -Both are split pushers. Both are incredible duelists late game simply in that Jax can out last most people in 1v1 fights and Trynd simply beats them up too quickly and/or can't die from a single person rushing him anyway. Both have iffy team fight capabilities though Jax has far more utility to offer in team fights simply because Jax and Tryndamere have gigantic targets painted on their backs at all times during team fights (generally). Jax has an iffy early game if you're not good at evaluating fights, and while Tryndamere sort of falls into this same ditch, Tryndamere has access to crits at level 1, which if you're lucky, can turn a trade entirely on its head.

Both are pretty bad. Tryndamere is more likely to put the other guy on tilt, though, so he's probably the better choice.

Why are they bad? can you give an example of a better top laner?

They're pretty much incapable of winning lane without level one cheese, rely on incredibly expensive offensive cores, can't teamfight effectively and don't even scale that well as splitpushers.

If you specifically want splitpushing top laners, Nidalee, Kayle and Irelia are all pretty beastly right now.

Nidalee has even worse teamfighting than Jax...

All picks are situational, never forget that. Jax has both a leap and an aoe stun to use in team fights, while Tryndamere can dive and distract the enemy team like a tank would while still having lethal damage. If you prefer to team fight via siege I would take Irelia or Kayle over Tryndamere, but Jax fits right in. Between Jax and Tryndamere I would say Jax as he is more flexable, but if you often have team members who can initiate a large scale team fight Tryndamere can do far better.

But she actually has a laning phase to make up for it. Quite a good one, actually.

All picks are situational, never forget that.

And the situations in which Jax or Tryndamere are ideal choices are so hilariously limited that they're not really worth mentioning.

I completely disagree. Nidalee only has a laning phase and ends up being played as a lackluster Irelia late game. She is countered by any champion with built in sustain, which includes Tryndamere once he has some life steal, and while she is unlikely to die in lane she will also not have kill potential without her jungler being involved.

About the only team comp that Jax and Tryndamere do not fit well in is a poke team, which will try to siege instead of forcing fights at objectives and rotating quickly. The current meta is a bit hard on any melee top laner, but if you learn the matchups you can do just fine on any champion mentioned in this thread so far.

There's a difference between "I guess this pick doesn't suck" and "This is the best pick for this situation."

If you can't say the latter of a champion, why are you bothering to learn them?

Nidalee has lane counters. She also has lane matchups that she can fucking crush, and she's a ludicrously effective splitpusher should she do so. Learn her, but don't pick her blind (unless you're Quas, in which case go to town).

You keep trying to apply this line to Jax and Tryndamere, but this line does not apply to a single champion in this game. Everyone has lane counters, and everyone has matchups where they dominate. I've already made all the points I need to about Jax and Tryndamere.

Sorry buddy, he was nerfed pretty hard. Props for managing to hold a winning record on a non-meta champ, though.

you can check out my gnomezen channel on youtube i show how i play both - they both take different skill sets and buying the right gear at right time. without the right gear both are horrible. with right gear they own. they also can be hard countered. darius counters jax and tryndmere. malphite counters them as well. teemo beats tryndmere early game, not so much late game

a lot of pro's on jax do not pvp until they get some gear like BOTRK or Trinity Force... you scale and are a late game champ

I made a movie on why a lot of people can't play jax... the eye hand coordination is pretty hard core because of the very fast cooldown on jax spells... it's why everybody says ban jax..yet hardly anybody will play him cause they try him and fail

tryndamere is backdoor champ.... you get yelled at a lot when you hit your ult and take down turrets, inhibitors, and nexus and nobody can stop you

I really like your videos btw, they are really good and I'm surprised you don't have more subs
