Silver Elo Problem

So I play Mid but recently I feel many games simply come down to 2 things:

  1. Which team has more people who just keep getting randomly caught and killed over and over and over
  2. Who has more CC

If you are the team on the wrong side of the above, as a glass cannon Mid like Viktor you often feel like there's just very little you can do.

I play for about 20 minutes, try to kill the other laner and either take the power to Bot with Ganks or push Mid. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

But past that point, unless our team is already hugely advantaged... it usually comes down to the above 2 factors. And when you're on the wrong end of it BOY is it stupid.

So there's usually this 1 (sometimes 2) person on the team who just keeps getting caught over and over and over by enemy CC and killed (either cause there's no vision for him, he's just farming far away, somehow has screwy rotation patterns, gets baited etc etc etc). As soon as he's gone, the rest of the team just enters this LOSE-LOSE mode. If you retreat, you give up free objectives... if you fight... well, you lose 4 vs 5. But of course, generally my team won't have the discipline to retreat, Ping or no Ping.

IN either event, the next time he's up (that guy who gets caught), he's going rinse and repeat.

And the rest of us just feel SO POWERLESS.

How do these 30-19 type scores emerge? Its because of this stupid pattern. 1 or 2 idiots wander around... Caught/Baited due to screwy rotations, bad decisions, faulty movements. BOOM BOOM BOOM.

Meanwhile I'm wondering what I can do at that point as the MId. Viktor isn't a 4 vs 5 champ. Also, it cost them NOTHING to eliminate our team's one idiot; so its not like there are any cooldowns here for me to exploit. We're all going to have deal with their FULL ARSENAL of CC again.

And I won't 4 vs 5... doesn't mean the rest of the team won't. And even if they are smart and retreat, it doesn't mean the ennemy won't take objectives. And when that idiot respawns... BOOM. He repeats.

So what do I do?

I have no initiation/frontline capability and in any event, we can't do any of that either because we're always 4. I can't use Summoners and 100-0 their backline, not until I have about 3 items and by then we're just too behind.

So what do you do?

There's always gonna be somebody who gets caught out and even If there are wards around they don't have map awareness xD what I do is I just keep reminding them to look at map every 3 seconds and react fast when it happens, I don't think theres a way to fix this

So I just have lose every Nth game unless I Challenger-Style 4 vs 5 (more like 3 vs 5) when I get these players and we've gotten to Teamfight without an advantage?

Its so frustrating though. Its literally... CAUGHT... 4 v 5 then lose objective... or not fight and lose objectives. Rinse repeat until lose.

Games can be decided because one side is essentially forced to 4 vs 5 every time cause of these repeated catchings?

In addition to the 1 guy who keeps getting caught over and over and over... add in a Thresh or a Blitzcrank on your team who thinks every grab = Win (even when that means enemy will 5 vs 4/3/2) and you're basically in a completely un-carriable position.

I truly feel your pain brother. However, recently I've realized that if you go into every game with the sole intent of NOT being the reason your team loses, you will pick up slightly more wins that losses. In other words, don't play to win each game. Instead, play multiple games with the intent to collect more wins than losses.

To clarify what I mean by not being the reason your team loses, basically don't feed and keep your farm decent. With a decent farm, you will be the reason your team wins even games. Those even games in addition to the games where the enemy team is a bunch of garbage ass feeders should net you a nice enough 60% win rate.
