What exactly are Marksmen trading off when they go through their build?

At what point do marksmen say "It really sucks, but I need to build this item ASAP if I'm going to have a chance in this lane." Because that's what mages ask themselves right now. And you're making it harder on the PBE.

Are we going to see some of the other classes actually have some of these meaningful tradeoffs, or do mages just have a different bar than others?
