Cassiopeia deserves attention

Half her playerbase's preferred way to play her was stripped in the name of removing her status as a lane bully. In the patch notes, her context opens up with "As a lane bully."

What exactly was this entire rework for? The passive is generally considered a massive failure, her poisons (what you'd expect from a snake mage) feel weak, and I'm pretty sure anyone who plays her multiple times a day will develop carpal tunnel syndrome from mashing twin fang. We've had absolute radio silence from Riot's side since Stashu last promised to keep working on her, and now we're seeing nerfs because she's overtuned to make up for her botched rework?

Talk to us. Figure out what can be done, because you guys made her into mage urgot. Give him numbers like her and you'd see the same amount of "success."

She is really strong atm but she doesn't seem to have an "identity" anymore. I think she is in need of another not-shitty rework tbh.

Thank you...for making this thread for me.

Also, inb4 "certain people" bringing up her high win ratez and the fact that some guy in LPL picked her without realizing what the point of this whole thread is.

You know I'm tired of these threads. I bought Cassiopeia on release day, and her playstyle HAS NOT CHANGED. YOU ALWAYS MAXED E TO SPAM IT WHENEVER YOU LANDED A POISON. Q WAS THERE TO KEEP YOUR DEADLY CADENCE UP. SHE IS STILL PLAYED THE SAME FUCKING WAY SHE WAS BEFORE > POISON > SPAM E > LAUGH PEOPLE OUT OF LANE

You people and your poison mage this, wahhhh poison mage make no fucking sense.

I personally am enjoying new Cass quite a bit. Straight murders teamfights and no mage plays like she plays. The E reset works so much better than it used to work.

I totally get the feels that poison mage Cass players have, I just don't share them.

I think her new kit is a bit mechanical, and the passive is a hack, but they did make her play patterns in lane feel more fair for both sides. Overall, neither a sparkling rework nor the worst one.

Yeah, it's pretty fkin hilarious how this entire thing was handled.

Especially the end, which was basically ''Fuck this, I'm gonna make her OP and call it a day'' Stashu even admitted Cass was overpowered in internal testings but still pushed the latest changes through

Give up on her. Go back to LeeDjinn and another "Muh lzs plays" champ.

Oleandervine2/2/2015, 1:31:50 PM3 votes

Yeah, but then, the boards have been absurdly quiet of late from any of the design team, not just Stashu. I think IronStylus pops up now and again for some personal comment or something, but it seems to be mostly the same few Rioters who don't appear associated with anything in dev or design who keep popping in with comments.

Re-work: Lets give her a new passive. That's all here.

OblongOtter2/2/2015, 5:39:49 PM2 votes

I'll be honest. As someone who loves theory-crafting, the thing that makes me most upset is that my PSCT (Patented Siren Cass Top) from before there was even word of a rework has gotten stolen by the pros. They'll take my Morde and Tanky Riven, next. They already took LB, Lulu top, Panth (although I didn't think of jungle) Triforce Kog, and one or two more. Stop reading my mind, pros.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I just can't stop getting all of these pentakills! EDIT: Really, I'm being serious. Cass mid main here. EDIT2: and no carpal tunnel

AutoreactiveCD42/2/2015, 3:11:23 PM2 votes

The carpal tunnel syndrome is real...that's why I stopped playing her. I guess that's her poison now

mikemil2232/2/2015, 9:52:36 PM1 votes

i want her range for her twin fang to be a bit longer just so i could literally be like urgot xD. but they made her less mana efficient which is good because she cud just take u all the way down at lvl 2. at least now she has to get mana from tear.

Railios2/2/2015, 10:55:23 PM1 votes

Shes actually the best, Cass scripters are crazy. You are just not good enough to play he rot he maximum potential. Neither am I, with the casso-carpel tunnel bug.

Orangesilk2/2/2015, 2:52:12 PM1 votes

Mana costs fixed her, she's no longer a lane bully, rework succesful. She's FINE.

Cindikle2/3/2015, 6:11:03 AM1 votes

Overall this is my problem with all of this. All this rework did was put a larger focus on her E.

And now they think mana costs are her problem.

I never once heard anyone say she needed any of this. I've only heard two complains about her.

1 - Her ult is not a reliable enough defense with all of the mobility in the game. 2 - If she fires her E at a poisoned target but they die before the E lands. It goes on full cooldown.

That's it.

She was a very well made champion. If her early game was a problem then shift some numbers around. Could of made her E have the scaling AP on her old kit. Or her Q's MS buff could have it's duration scale with rank so she could chase so hard. Could of made the reset on her E higher at lower ranks. Making players chose Q for poke or E for damage.

Can't tell me they lacked options.

Vesarixx2/3/2015, 4:11:15 AM1 votes

I have a suggestion

Cass' passive is changed to enhance her power in one of 2 ways based on which ability is leveled up first, Q/W leveled first gains bonuses to her poison damage and makes E reduce MR. Maxing E first gives the bonus AP, health return and grants the reduced cool down of her E on poisoned targets, the snakes that appear from her passive are given colour coded visual indicators based on which skill she levels first for clarity.

Q deals a moderate base amount of damage plus a small AP%, in addition each rank also adds to a % health shred that doesn't scale with AP

W increases the damage from Q's health shred portion the longer an enemy stays within it in addition to its current effects

E scales based both on points put into it as well as champion level(more damage per cass' level for 2 points than just 1) Base damage is reduced but scaling is buffed slightly.

R is unchanged aside from a change to where it is cast from in relation to Cass' hitbox, from center instead of from edge.

Sustained damage Cass stacks AP for the additional damage on E, while Poison mage Cass builds item 3151 and other magic pen items to enhance her poison damage, the ult change is just a QoL buff. A Q max path allows Cass to be an effective laner, while the passive locks her into the focus on poisons with a higher cool down on E, an E max means she will be weaker in lane but scale well into the late game.

I'll probably need to keep working on this but for now this is what I have.

um cassiopeias current winrate pretty much says you are wrong. The chick is simply amazingly good right now. Probably even op. I played her before and after the rework and well she is just plain way better then she used to be. I have no issues bullying my lane. Only difference now is im relevant for more then just my ult late game

Tendrian2/3/2015, 5:16:01 PM1 votes

95% of her playerbase's preferred way to play her was stripped in the name of removing her status as a lane bully.
