Aurelion Sol is underwhelming

Yes. He really is. I didn't play him on PBE just to preserve the hype he built up but I regret that decision now. Played him in normals for 20 games. Won 9. At least with Jhin I got 12 wins out of 20. Any "in-your-face" champ can easily fuck you up. For example, Pantheon. Aurelion gets a power spike after Rylai's and RoA BUT it isn't sufficient. With only two damaging spells and a passive that has a slow rotation, he is at the mercy of other mages/assassins. I just feel he is weak, even in late game. Not weak in terms of dmg (He actually deals a lot of that), but weak in terms of duels.

Or Maybe it's just me.

This champ is not about duels. You are teamfight monster with huge AOE. Also in duels he has his Q to disengage. If you wanna go ham, get any assasin type champ.

Well considering most of the time, your enemy mid/jungler will force and engage, I think dueling is quite important. Huge AoE? Hmm. Debatable. Q? Lool. Yes but then again, it's not really effective. And in teamfights aren't common. Except your team is the "All group mid" kind. I don't want him to be an assassin. I just want him to be something like Orianna. Good long range. Good close combat. Let there be balance.

Stopped there.

it's his weakness and must stay as it is. He's like Vel'Koz, he's not the champion you can blind first pick like Lulu. End of the line.

Lool. How can you compare him to Velkoz? Velkoz does great at long range and good in close combat. Wrong comparison.

Vel'koz not being a champ you can blind first pick is what i said. I didn't even tried to compare them. Learn to read ty.

My bad. But your statement is still irrelevant.

Aurelion Sol is really hard to manuver and this is a major point of his strenght/weakness ratio. He has way to deal with divers (ultimate and stun) but you need also to remeber that these are not free "out of prison" cards because the moment you have that small advantage you must rapidly activate W and get away of arms range.

I'm having a positive winrate on him for now (could play only him for 6 matches) with 5 victories against (as laner): Lux, Akali (dem boops while she stealthed xD), Veigar, Lux again and Ahri. I lost to a Renekton when I tried him Top for fun. I suffered against Ahri expecially because she lucked a couple of times And against Akali I had their Shaco on me 24/7.

But when Teamfights start Aurelion becomes a beast, you get kills out of nowere and force their team to retreat just with your W. Combine that with a peeler like Jhin and the match is yours.

Glad you mentioned this part. At least you know what you are talking about. I just feel compared to other AP midlaners, he falls below the threshold of early game power.

Against Ranged champs, he's good cos then his passive can actually hit them in combat which explains your wins.

I know he's a beast during teamfights but if the enemy is smart, they won't allow you to force teamfights. In the rare occurrence of a teamfight, you'll be focused so fast. It happened to me. I'll be in a teamfight, then panth will ult and stun me. That removed my passive and usually ended with me being dead.

To be honest, Lux might be one of the hardest counter simply because she can harass you from far above your stars range. In that match up it's you that must cross her safety net which is what melees do to you (with gap closers though).

His E allows for some good ganks, bringing up a heavy charged Q forces the enemies to retreat or get the stun and in both cases it's an advantage for you (if you'r positioning is right and you are ready to react).

Then it's all about teamwork, there is no character that can forcefully group or lock a team (not even Bard xD). If there is something I lerned by my matches with AS is that you need to be patient. Each champion has his peculiar "flow" to go with and that's something I learnt from the release of Yasuo.

Lux counters EVERYONE with her range. And if you play Zed into Aurelion, you're likely to win lane. His is is good but kind of slow. And sucks that you can't deviate from the part just a little bit. I can't tell you how many times I missed my stun all because the enemy sidestepped. Teamwork is the real deal, no doubt but in solo queue....hmmm.

Indeed side stepping Op xD you either need to cover an entire lane or countertime your enemy, yet it serves as good mid-chain CC. Last match I was with an Amumu jungler and we chained all things really good.

AninLegions7771 votes

I'm not saying it's not good CC. It's not just super effective. Yeah Aurelion has good synergy with "lockdown" champs like Amumu. They give him the opportunity to get out maximum dmg with his passive. Same with Alistar.

Well of course he does. He's a lategame champ not an early. Earlygame he'll barely do any damage cause he has to land his q then w like 3-4 times to trade completely. Once he gets a roa+rylais tho, he devastates if you land your q. 3 W's later+ult to either survive or kill and they're dead.

Against Ranged champs, he's good cos then his passive can actually hit them in combat which explains your wins.

Love squishy champs overall. Q+2 W's+ult=dead lol.

"won't allow you to force teamfights" LOL. The point of forcing a teamfight is to force the enemy to fight you or get caught and die (or waste something to escape). You should either engage with your Q or disengage them with your ult so that you survive and deal dmg with your w. If you truly force it, the enemy will fight you or they will escape with flash+ults down. Thats what forcing a teamfight is.

As for your pantheon example, you'd have to ult, preferably tho so you hit 2 or 3 people besides pantheon. If you don't ult and can't stun (usually you can't if he sticks to you like usual) you'll be screwed. This is where your team comes in tho. If you built correctly, you shouldn't die immediately. Maybe you will if they waste like 3 or 4 ults on you (happens usually actually), but then your team can deal with them and they should be easy to deal with. Unless your entire team fed.....then you're just screwed lol.

You just need good positioning but if they stick to you, yeah you'll prob die but your team should clean up.

Yeah I know this but then again, late game isn't really common is solo queue. Games end at 25-30 mins. Not long enough for him to get that power spike UNLESS he got fed early game.

True for mages in general but sometimes you have to switch it up those squishy champs like Kindred that have multiple gap closers. It's better to go R>W>Q. Gives you that necessary burst from the get-go.

Lool mate. I know what forcing a teamfight is. But it's not against every team comp you force teamfights. In a team with Malphite/Orianna/Yasuo in any combination, they'll destroy your attempts. It's all about being strategic. That's why I play Aurelion Sol with a friend who knows how to peel for me.

Panth has that burst that takes about 1/2 your hp. So even if I survive it, his team will jump on me. And let's not even talk about when the enemy have Bard. Lool. Goodluck not being killed after he ults you for his team to catch up.

You just need good positioning but if they stick to you, yeah you'll prob die but your team should clean up.

No argument here.

Well he can actually stall games due to his w clearing minions. So its actually possible to stall games THEN get his powerspike.....I've done it. W op dude xD.

eh I guess you can do that but usually, the speed you get from e is enough to get close enough for your w to hit. Your e is basically just a quinn ult lol. So E for speed then activate Q+W at the same time. Then kin'll ult and the rest of her team shows up and you die xD. Thats usually how it goes sadly :/.

Let your team get caught then Q+W them :P. You'd be surprised how often it turns fights around.
