Been wondering about this. I've been trying to get some practice in with Kayn in normal draft but he's nearly always banned. It's pretty much established that he's not OP and after two weeks one would think that the "OMG I don't want to learn how to play against the new champ so I'm banning him always!" crowd has died down a bit. He's not horribly annoying to play against either like Yasuo or something. So what gives?
He's just released. The bans now is probably just one of those instances of "don't you dare first time Kayn in my ranked game".
But idk.
It's not that he's OP(he's not this is agreed) or that he's tough to play against, but that more likely, players don't want him on their team to feed. Like in low Elos Yas gets banned a lot not because of his power(he can definitely be a monster) but that people don't want noobs to try to play him, fail, end up feeding, and costing them them the game.
Other people just like to watch the world burn. "Oh you spent 7800/6300 IP or 975 RP on this new flashy champ? That's neat dude, too bad you can't play him! " bans new champ
Probably because people don't want to deal with wallhax shenanigans.
He is new so there is a high chance that if someone on my team picks him it will be his first time playing or in general he can't properly play him
He is very annoying to face as he has quite a bit of healing and is the most untargetable champion in the game
I guess this goes for any champ, but for Kayn especially if my idiot teammates actually manage to feed him (such as my diamond Riven main who went 0 9 vs him in lane few days ago) he actually doesn't have any counterplay at all, so better be safe than sorry
oh i dunno. maybe a point-n-click ult that does 50%maxhp dmg and heals for 70% of that. Not sure but I think that might have something to do with it.
I can't risk my teammates getting him and going 1/12/2 because 1st time kayn ranked, just bought new champion. I ban him cause I can't risk my LP like that >>
I wouldn't agree on the 'not Op thing', atleast not for rhaast. The only game i lost on rhaast so far was with a feeding midlane teemo and our opponents sitting on the inhibitor befor i reach transformation. But if a you get to transformation befor your team fals behind to far, you basically won if rhaast knows what he does - and i play him top which seems to be his weaker position.
But overall he seems like a case of yasuo to me - people still have to figure out how to use him effectively and he's generally seen weak(back when yasuo was released, people called him the weakest champ ever and called for buffs all over), and once buffed, or probably even with out buffs, he will start to be a dominant pick, atleast in high elo.
It's funny it wasn't this bad the first week, but the second week when he became free to play, BAM! Ban city, that or enemy team picks him first. I'm finding more luck playing him in blind.

because people ban new champs because someone is guaranteed to play it, and seek validation from disappointing somebody.
I ban him because I don't morons on my team picking him and being useless.
Then they just pick Lee instead and are still useless. GG -21 LP.
Karma Eve and Kayn are my current bans; I think Karma is most popular so I ban her.
Kayn might take my primary ban soon just because I'm tired of dealing with his wall walking.
It's funny because Kayn is probably the most counterable and killable assassin of the bunch.
