PSA - Getting dangerous is healthy for teamplay and for getting things done in this game

I keep seeing people posting misguided thoughts or misleading thoughts however you want to take it...on many issues in this game. Now few might argue, that they are simply trolling on a mass scale, trying to get lots of newbs to stay in the dark about how things really are so there are more newbs to wreck so to say. But even if that's the case, I'd still like to attempt to make this issue clear to as many people as possible.

This game requires courage if you are to steer your champions correctly. Yes, there are times when discretion is the better part of valor, and that's fine. But to play the game with an attitude of 'always be safe' is just completely wrong. You need to get dangerous. You need to take risks. You have to put trust in your allies, live or die. Now of course winning is important a lot of people theorize that a good way to keep winning is to effectively remove competition. And that's why a lot of propaganda gets spread around.

Like they were telling us, even Riot themselves in their YouTube series 'ALL CHAT' ... some players need to learn to get carried. You can lose your lane and still win the game. You have to trust your teammates and throw your lot in with them rather than just giving up just because you personally are not 'the star of the team' or whatever it is that you're desiring but not getting...when a win is what truly counts in the end.

So what I'm getting at here, is that holding back some effort of all that you're capable of, that's playing safe. I keep seeing people preach weird crap on these forums that betrays a play safe attitude and this post is here to tell you guys to knock it off. Don't support these players on the forums, because they are the true trolls and they are the ones that are wrong. Whether it's by choice or whether they are trying to force their wrong opinions on you, it doesn't matter. They are still being bad people, win or lose. They could be lying about the way they play for all you know. They can say one thing and do another, so don't trust them.

Trust your teammates. They're the ones that are going to help you win a game, not some random jerk online. Certainly not your opposition.

Depends. Following up on a play that has a bit of risk to it, but can be very rewarding when you are in position to do so is good.

Ex: You are the jungler and your Top laner is going in to ward the other team's blue. He places a ward to spot their Kha'zix starting the blue buff. You are in position to go in with him; he commits, stuns the Kha because the other team's mid/top are in their lanes and you are both on characters with reasonable burst and the Kha gets close enough for him to go in and stun. If you follow up, you can most likely kill the Kha nearly instantly with no chance for him to react, and most likely get out before the other team's laners can get there. If you don't commit, the enemy lanes collapse and the top laner dies because he gets slowed by Kha.

Realistically, the play has little or no risk to it if you follow up. Trusting that the play is the correct in the moment is the issue.

That said, when a person who isn't near the fight is pinging danger/retreat before someone goes in, it's probably best not to try and follow up. Too many games where I retreat/danger ping as shen because my ult is still on CD for 10-15 seconds but they go in anyway and die.

Following when someone is diving in 1v5 when you only have 2 people nearby is not a good idea, as it will result in 3 deaths instead of only 1, and even if you kill that ADC, it's a net loss and most likely gives up a free objective.

Going into an even fight when you're significantly behind is bad, as it will most likely result in the other team getting further ahead.

When you're behind, play safe, farm, keep an eye on the enemy team, and look for picks and free objectives. When ahead, group, pressure the map, and look for picks so you can secure an objective with no risk. If the enemy team just backed, and you are near baron/Dragon, even if you are behind, you can take the objective, because you know where the enemy team is. If you are in top/bot, and you see the enemy team is grouped mid, while the rest of your team is defending, getting that free tower is going to be better than running to help the rest of your team, because if they commit to a fight, and are significantly behind, they're probably going to lose the fight anyway, and you are getting more exp and gold overall for the team by playing it safe and going for objectives that aren't being contested.
