Tank supports vs AP Support (My opinion)
Just a reminder that this is my opinion on how things between tank supports (
) and ~~AP supports ~~ Utility Support(
) are at the moment.
Tank supports Tank supports are fun to play against, are efficent, but are somewhat binary playing as them. They are great for what they do, and while learning all their abilities and strategies can be pretty fun to play. Eventually, however, they get boring, and what little they can do besides soak up damage becomes the same every time. Sure, there's timings on when to ult and who do go in on and when, but in general, it's the same most of the time.
Utility Supports Utility Supports are great to play as and are great at what they do, but are generally horrible to play against. Most supports chill in the back while buffing and getting their ADCs out of trouble. It makes things uninteresting and unengaging to play against. On the surface, it seems like AP supps have the same problem as tank supports. That after you learn them, they become binary and unfun. The difference is that generally, AP supports have more options for any given problem. Instead of "Stun and run and hope to god you make it out alive because al l you're supposed to do is go in." Say Lee sin ganks your lane. As a Leona support, you would stun him, or maybe ult him to save your ADC, probably dying in the process because you have to be in melee range to stun him. As a Janna support, you could use a tornado to stop lee from qing to your adc, use your w to slow him, and stay in a safe range while you're at it. She could also ult if needed to knock everyone away while she shields her ADC from any damage.
Tanks could use more than just "When do I ult and how do I get out" as options when fighting.
EDIT: Change any instances of AP support with Utility support
