Daily reminder that ARAM should include the entire champion pool
That way people can't make ARAM only accounts and completely dominate the other team.
That way people can't make ARAM only accounts and completely dominate the other team.
But why would people go through the trouble of creating a separate account just for aram? It's like the least competitive mode. Sometimes the enemy team has a better comp but who cares, it's aram
Tryhards, man. They're everywhere...
Out of curiosity, why is ARAM the "least competitive mode"?
only because you can't get shiny bits of ribbon from there
It's because it's mostly played by people who just want to have a fun interactive game where the stakes are basically nothing. It's action packed from beginning to end, and even if you lose it's like 15 minutes of your life, not much.
Because there's no strategy to it. It's fun, but you can't decide if you're going to play a champ that's good or not, or if you're going to get a team comp that works together. There's also no strategy in the game because it's just push, or wait for allies to join you and push.
It's not balanced and isn't intended to be, it's supposed to be less competitive fun where you use champs you might not normally use.

People like to win.. its addictive and they want it any way they can get it.
It's like one minute chess. It is just face grinding against the pavement the whole time. You want it soooo badly.
I never thought about how easy it would be to win if I had an account with just
for ARAM lol. thanks for the tip OP
It's really not. I didn't do it on purpose but on my smurf, I only have Teemo and Veigar to play in pvp. I've had the account for years but about 2 months ago, I played aram for the first time and got Veigar. Stun wasn't worth a lick of salt against tanks who can still run in and bash my face in afterward.
It might be great against squishies, but if the enemy has tanks, they'll take the stun and keep on trucking.
Xerath, Ziggs, Lux, Varus, Tank/Soraka.
Ziggs might be the most powerful champ on the map.
Xerath, Ziggs, Lux, Varus, Tank/Soraka.
Ziggs might be the most powerful champ on the map.
But a team with good regen and enough tanks/hard engage would destroy this team, because as soon as they get 3000hp and 200 magic resist, Xerath, Ziggs and Lux are all doing tiny amounts of poke, and are squishy snacks.
I've found it's best to have 2 tanks on a team to cause absolute havoc with the enemy backline and completely shutdown their damage from the mid game. If you also have someone to sustain them like Alistair or Soraka, then it's really really tough going.
Depends on how much waveclear/sustain the other team has. If the other team doesn't have either, there's a decent chance the poke team could end the game before the other team has the raw stats to engage.
Indeed.
-No trades -No rerolls -Full champ pool
Oh no, that game that advertises itself as random is now actually somewhat random. And for fuck's sake, remove snowballs.

rolls and trades are necessary. Because there seem to be temporary patters where you keep getting the same champions...

Under the current system. Far, far less likely to happen with an open champ pool. Unless you own every champ already and are still seeing that trend.
I generally find that if you have been playing a champion for 2-3 games on SR in a row then you play an Aram u have close to a 50% chance of getting the same champion
i own every champ and i get a ton of duplicates from game to game. i got Urgot like 5 times in a row one day.
Same here, i own all champs, yet whenever i play aram i tend to get stuck with pantheon or malphite if i don'r reroll, like seriously, almost always 1 of these 2
By the way, has someone ever seen a yorick in aram? I have NEVER seen one... I rly start to think the system never randomly rolls him... The same goes for blitz btw, haven't seen him either
i see blitz quite often, but actually that's a good point. now that i think about it, I'm not sure I've ever seen a Yorick in over 1000 games of ARAM.
hmm thinking about that now it seems kind of fixed.
i also tend to see sona a disproportionate amount, but maybe that's part of the ARAM only accounts thing
I've seen yorick just today in ARAM, they are pretty terrible to deal with most of the time but I got Sejuani and she wrecks aram =P
Yeah I own all but 6 champs and I have gotten the same champ back to back a few times in the last week.
I own the entire champion pool, only play Aram since it was introduced, and there are still champions I haven't seen myself roll more than once. Aram has a weighted random generator by design.

that's because the champ pool is limited so based on everyone in games champ pool they try and balance a team and so sometimes that means the same champions for several games.
Could that be because people have a smaller total champ pool available to them? I think with all 130 champs, it'd be fewer repeats.
Not sure how I feel about the other guy wanting no tradesies...
I'm going to have to agree with Solaxo.
Rerolling and trading reduces the chances of people dodging and at least gives people hope they have the chance to get a champion they want to play or don't mind playing.
The snowball is debatable though. I only use it for checking the bushes or getting back to lane faster.

Trades and such would likely have to stay. All I'm saying is that it's not in the spirit of ARAM to trade someone you don't know how to play for someone you know how to play well. What's the point of the game mode?
Different interpretations of ARAM, I guess. Personally, trading is fine in the spirit of ARAM because it doesn't change the teamcomp at all. It's still "five random champs against five other random champs."
More importantly, they just need to do a better job of balancing teams. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard for Riot to just a assign a 1-5 score to each champ based on ARAM effectiveness and then pick the teams pseudo-randomly, making sure the total score is even or close to it, or just making sure there are even numbers of ranged champs, tanks, etc. It feels like the majority of games are decided before the game even starts simply because the teams can end up being so unbalanced.
Could not agree more. I don't know about everyone else, but I actually started to avoid ARAM some weeks just because some of the champs that are OP in ARAM are available. It would be better just to make them all available and with Hex teck crafting coming, make it so you can use those essence shards to get an extra re-roll. That would encourage people to play the normal mode while giving another way to earn a re-roll aside from just playing ARAM repeatedly.
You know those ARAM accounts with those crazy poke champs like Nid and Xerath or the cheese champs like Yi actually really suck late game against a normal account that has tanks and peel to pick from.
Except when that team doesn't roll tanks or for some reason people reroll ALL their tanks.
Well then that puts you on par with all the supposed ARAM accounts you're going against.
Include duplicates as well? :^)
versus
in other news, i got a
team at one point and it was fucking brilliant
Hook city is legit on SR too. I actually rolled an all yordle comp once. Nobody rerolled and we actually won. It was hilarious and fun, everyone was motivated to play so perfectly.
TEAM A

OR
TEAM B

OR
TEAM C

I would place my money on team C. Ori shield mal, mal ults, ori ults, MF ults gg izi. I don't know why you placed maokai. Yasuo would be way better in this comp
no fiddles?
No
?
A for A-holes, B for Bastards, and C for...well, I don't want to lose my religion here.
Good luck beating that team.
ARAM is not meant to be balanced.
It's a joke mode for screwing around with your buddies when you're too drunk/tired/annoyed to play real matches.
I'm not saying to make it balanced.
I'm saying make it somewhat fair...
Would you want, on your joke mode, tryhards who end up with a bunch of long range seige champs/healers on their team while you get completely curbstomped?
This change makes it more fun for everyone.

not .... balanced [but] make it ... fair
[slayer-jinx-unamused]
Yes, those are two different things.
Ex: A champion may be balanced, but they may still be insanely frustrating to play against.
That is balanced, but not really fair.
Daily reminder. Nope! This game is 5 years old, don't most people have all champs by now anyway?
Because everybody started 5 years ago
