Sunfire is NOT suppose to give DUELING POWER

Patch 7.24 notes

Sunfire Cape

  • Aura damage increased.

"The two items that have enabled consistent laning patterns for tanks this season have been Sunfire Cape and Bramble Vest. We're not really happy with the play patterns that arise from either being the go-to item on tanks: Sunfire Cape tends to lead to overly high base damage on tanks with little cost in overall durability, while Bramble Vests makes playing basic-attacking champions in top lane overly prohibitive.

However, without either of those items, it's become clear that tank laning patterns fall apart. At this point, it's clear that Sunfire Cape is the healthier dynamic, so we're reverting the changes from Patch 7.9, but we hope to revisit Sunfire Cape in the future."

  • AURA DAMAGE: 11 + 1/level ⇒ 25 + 1/level
  • BONUS DAMAGE TO MINIONS: +200% ⇒ +50%
  • HI ORNN: These changes apply to Forgefire Cape as well

I’m an avid tank player, I enjoyed the Sunfire meta in early Season 7 while it lasted, but by no means was it healthy for the game.

Sunfire Cape IS NOT SUPPOSE TO PROVIDE DUELING OR TEAM FIGHTING POWER. The way tanks deal a quarter of their damage should not be standing next to their targets and withering away their health bars in an AoE.

Sunfire Cape IS SUPPOSE TO GIVE ADEQUATE WAVE CLEAR. Tanks should be able purchase Sunfire as a waveclear option, rather than having Thornmail as a way of wave clear and tanking the wave.

When Tank Itemization offer too much base damage, that's when you see Bruisers and Fighters start itemizing them and sacrificing nothing in the process. So Riot, please understand the dynamic of Tank Itemization before dropping ridiculous buffs.

P.S. BURN RADIUS: 400 ⇒ 325

Cmon Riot, don’t hit us with the shadow nerfs. If you are going to revert 7.9 changes then do actually pull through with it.

They didn't say Sunfire was healthy. They said it was more healthy than Bramblevest. To address the overall problem they need to address top lane (fighters specifically).

The range revert is all I want.

Sunfire should have bigger range. The damage buff is good as well.

Because it's so much healthier when an ADC shred's literally any type of champion's health from safe range in a matter of seconds?

Riot said it was a pushing item.

I have always used it as a dueling item.

Back in the Days when you could 1v1 the ADC as Rammus because you literally killed yourself fighting him.
